Hey all!

I'm after a little advice so I've come to consult my fellow OcUkers.

Basically I'm going camping with a few mates on the 16th next month in Newquay for a week. I've woken up this morning and it hit me that I have nothing ready!

As I have never been camping before I have little equipment and experience, and not knowing what to buy and what I will need.

So I would be very grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction. What will I need to take? any tips etc

Thanks a lot! :D

tent, groundsheet, sleeping bag, stove, food & change of clothes?

ask you pals what they are taking

Take half of what you think you need - I always take too much stuff.

Tent
Sleeping Bag
Pillow
Some clothes
Toothbrush and toothpaste
Fold away stool/chair - very important that one!

Don't bother with books or your ipod - you won't use them and they'll only get wet.

There's enough takeaways in Newquay so you won't have to worry about taking a stove, and if you fancy you can always get a disposable BBQ and some grub from the supermarket.

You'll also need a rollmat/self-inflating sleeping mat. You'd be stupid to simply sleep on the bare floor of the tent.:)

My basic list if I am going anywhere:

Sleepingbag
Airbed
Light source (candles not ideal but ok if you are careful!)
Tin/bottle opener
Small (as possible) sound system
Toilet roll (*just* in case)
Coolbox if required

My top tip for camping, lemonade is not very good at extinguishing fires. About ten of us were all crashed out in a large tent when a tea light started melting the tents floor. A mate chucked a load of lemonade on the candle and I have never seen pillar of flame quite like it. Although muggins here was by the door, I was in one of those hooded sleeping bags with just my face showing. So all I could do was panic wriggle around like a slug while my mates stampeded for the door!

Since this enlightening moment, my friend became.......a fireman :)

Tin opener! See i would have never thought about that.

The person who cut my hair last mentioned something about a mattress or airbed which does not actually touch the ground. Never heard of them before

well you would need one if you intend on taking tins, unless of course one of your mates are taking one

are you going proper camping ? ie out in the stix for a few days at a time?
