Ideal Budget Motherboard?

Hi guys, so i need a second opinion, i've been looking into a motherboard for my Q6600 which i plan on getting. I want to overclock it to 3.2GHZ as that seems the norm.

So originally i've been looking at the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L motherboard. I've read a few reviews and apparently it's a really good board for overclocking.

What others do you recommend around that price area? I'm looking at spending maximum £70-80 but i prefer to pay less :P

Thanks,
Dan

As it happens I've just this aft had my Q6600 up to 3.8 on a Gigabyte G33 DS3R, its got onboard graphics but has a PCI-E slot too, had an E8400 up to 580 FSB on the same board. Got to be the best overclocking budget board ever.

i like my ds3l. runs my quad @ 3.4ghz no problem. and that's using a cheap ass akasa cpu cooler that ocuk sell for 13 quid. and it happily runs 4 x 2gb sticks of ram - something the p31 can't do.... :D

I say The INTEL P35 chipset :D

In particular the ASUS P5K-E which would be at the very top end of your budget but trust me the extra pennies really do give you an awesome mature motherboard able to max your overclocks.

P35 for the win, anyone says otherwise is a gerkin! ;)

Leave me alone

It can run 8Gb of RAM , so you just have to make sure you buy single-sided modules.

P31/G31 are excellent chipsets if you're really on a budget, but for £70 you can get some quite good P35 or possibly even a P45 board, and they will be much better.

DFI's 'Blood Iron' is a very good P35 board, but it turned up too late to make any real market impact. - £70.

ASUS P5K was almost the original P35 board. LOts of support threads and all the bugs are as ironed out as they are ever going to be - again, £70.

MSI Neo FR is highly rated by overclockers - probably the only MSI board that is. £75 at OcUK.

and I couldn't possibly not mention my own P35 board - the J&W IP35-Pro.

It's not just quite as good as an overclocker as the ASUS, DFI or MSI, but it has more features for the money, as long as you don't want RAID. Again - £70.

If you can stretch to £80 then the ASUS P5Q is on special offer this week at £80, and these do seem to be the best medium budget boards at the moment.
