Finding specific house on internet map (google earth etc?)

Is there a way to find a specific house on any online maps? I want to know where in the street a specific house is (Ive got the house number), but google earth etc just points me to the middle of the street, no matter what number house i put in. Any ideas how to fish out as much info as possible from a specific house?
 
Some councils have mapping websites that will include their local address gazeteer, which will enable you to search down to individual units.

I say some because not many actually do it, and even less do it well but it's the only way i can think of.

It's mainly because there are only 2 address code databases, the council managed LLPG and the Ordnance Survey address locator, both of which carry quite significant licensing fee's for public use (hundreds of thousands possibly). In which case it's a lot cheaper to license postcode boundaries.
