xfx gtx 260 xxx or 4870

im nearly complete with my new build just need some ram and a vid card but im not sure what to go for the 260 xx has the edge on the 4870 but im at a cross roads what should i do stay with the xfx 260 xx or get a 4870?

Go for the 4870, the 4870 tends to be equal to or slightly above the 260 in most things, a fair shot above in some, and only tails behind a little on a few games, you also get more regular driver support from ATI/AMD.

i have seen a few threads about the 4870 cards dieing not sure if they where being overclocked or flashed.

XFX have a terrible customer support history, especially with OCUK.

OCUK outright refused to stock them for a long time, not sure if that's still in effect.

4870, better image quality, driver support, pound for power, the list goes on.
Oh and massive headroom for o/c if that's your bag ;0

^^ Agreed.
It's maybe a bit pessimistic to believe a card is going to fail but I'd rather have the peace of mind that, should it happen, I'd have an "ok" time getting it fixed.
XFX do not offer this peace of mind.
