Whats the longest time you've been stuck on the phone trying to call somewhere? Calling Aberdeen FC ticket office to get tickets for the game vs Man Utd, and I've been on for almost 3 hours and it's engaged every time. Really bored so decided to make this thread

So, share your stories and make me not feel so bad as you relive the time you were engaged for 57hours calling for a takeaway

Stuck? Maybe an hour. I think the longest I've been on the phone in conversation is 4+ hours with an ex.

You sure your call hasn't become lost in the system?

Yes - if you're STILL on hold after three hours I'd give up, unless you're being told you're moving up the queue. Sometimes the calls get caught in a loop and you'll never get it answered.

I remember seeing a thread in the mobiles section when someone was on hold to Orange for five hours or something equally daft.

Apparently other fans are having the same problem. They've probably got 1 guy manning the phones It's not on hold, just whenever I ring it's always engaged.

I was on the phone to admiral insurance for around 3 hours after an accident. Been on the phone to sky for over an hour on several occasions.

Personal calls, spent all day on the phone to the GF a few times. But thats not "stuck" on the phone in that sense.

Just been on hold this morning for 24 minutes - Hounslow Council Tax department, damn you sirs

Before they sorted their phone system, we would frequently sit on hold for 45mins+ to our ISP. When you did get through, the problem was normally sorted straight away however...

Now it's more like 2mins hold, and then 2 days wait for the 1 person on their broadband "team" to sort it out.

Imagine the christmas parties!

How? I'd much rather talk to someone face to face than over the phone but I've still spoken to people on the phone for well over an hour before.

9 hours at work fixing an extremely complicated issue for someone who wasn't particularly PC literate. Would have been quicker to drive there and do it myself.

Probably 2 or 3 hours personally.

Ah, 5 hours on the phone to get tickets. In the end I managed to get them online, albeit still waiting 4 hours or so to be able to buy them. Interwebs win again!
