I'm going on holiday soon, and I'm going to spending a few days in the Sahara. I'd love to take some pictures, although I've been told that sand gets into everything in the desert... has anyone got any advice?

I took my D40 into the Sahara and it was ok, I had it around my neck while on a camel most of the time. The sand does get everywhere though, YMMV!

i would just try to avoid getting the gear near any sand , i used my 5d on the beach a few times in nz with no probs

if you want to play it safe

use filters with seals & wrap the body in a clear plastic bag when you head out to the desert

you can also buy armours that will help but they are expensive

Buy one of the rainproof bags, they can be bought for £4.99 from a well known online camera shop, just a clear plastic bag which goes over the whole camera and lens.

Yeah when I was at Donna Nook I used my raincover to great effect. Id also avoid changing lenses at all costs btw. If you have to chenge lenses then maybe get one of those lens change bags.
