With all the hype surrounding the latest Gfx card releases, my usual habit of updating Direct X slipped.
Needless to say there was a release early June

I updated last night and it sems to have sorted my stuttering in COD4 and some random crashes.

Looked through a few pages and no one else has posted (that I could find) So , jsut a heads up. :)

Would that be the micro-stutter that I have heard mention of thats fixed?

Not sure...I will google the "micro stutter" but for me, it was a stutter which would happen randomly in game, before you know it your character had moved slightly and you find yourself more often than not, being killed.
It was a very quick , short lived stutter, it was on every map and every server I went on... so annoying !!

Played last night for an hour following Direct X update and it wasn't there

do ms put this on windows update?

Nope, but if you go to the DirectX site and download the install thingy, when you run it it will download all the DirectX updates you're missing and install them.

Handy little tool. :)

cheers tute
didn't know it was needed in Vista

why don't ms include it as an optional extra at least!

Well i've just run it in XP - seems i'm missing quite a lot.

Not sure about Vista, but give it a try none-the-less. :)
