I was just suprised quite how expensive it was to service - how old is it? Is there any reason why you took it to Vauxhall?

Main dealer service prices for small cars are silly, when i had the Clio renault used to charge me £175 for an oil change, i mean wft!

So you just paid, after we delete the gear linkage, £226 to service a Vauxhall Corsa?

Thats 50 quid less than a major service on a 6 cylinder BMW. Why do people continue to perpetuate this myth that cheap plastic junk is worth buying becuase its 'cheap to run'

In 2 years and 20k miles I've yet to have a service thats more than £210 on mine!

Suspect the service cost must be cheaper, the first service on a Zafira came to a grand total of £108 considering the oil was £70 pretty cheap I thought. They then retro fitted cruise and full wheel alignment for another £100 ontop, stalk was £40 so again not a lot on labour.

A bit harsh calling it cheap plastic junk just because you don't like the Corsa or small cars, I agree like you I would never buy one but they do get good write up and the dealer will do you a brand new 1.2 for £6.5k which you are going to able to punt that on for 4k ish after 3 years as small cars sell well (sold my Girlfriends 6 year old 1.2 Clio for 2k). Not a lot to loose really.

It's not cheap plastic junk becuase I dont like the Corsa or small cars, its cheap plastic junk becuase it is - I've driven a few (One was even a BMW courtesy car haha) and my girlfriends parents have an 05 plate - its cheap plastic junk.

Fiesta, Polo, etc etc better.

But a bit unfair to drag the thread in this direction as he didnt ask for opinions on his car.

I assume you are talking about the old one not sure when the new one came out but think it was after a 05 plate, I am talking about the new one. The new one is certainly better built than a Fiesta or Yaris I have been in although the only new Corsa I have sat in was the VXR one so may have been slightly blinkered by the seats that looked and felt superb.

Your right, but you are more than prepared to derail this thread by labeling his car "cheap plastic junk". How would you like it if your car, which you have worked hard to get, was described like that?

Not only that, but your comments were completley pointless and unneccessary. You could have made your point in a far more constructive way but nope, you feel the need to belittle someone else because they drive a car which is inferior to your own. Blatent snobbery...

You seem to forget that there is a real person at the end of your cheap insults.....

OP has the old one though so not sure why you are thinking about the current shape one.

At the time of the post it wasn't mentioned if it was the old or new one, I assumed new as the only reason to take it a dealer for a service at those prices. Although thinking about it the work would have been under warranty if it was the new one. So my mistake.

Do you work for the HSE by any chance, are you one of those people that come up with stupid safety laws for primary school children???

If calling his car a pile of pants was going to result in him running off crying then cutting himself then clearly he
has other issues...

Hey guys calm down , i really dont give a munkies about if someone says my car is plastic junk. Cuz it is made of plastic and metal , and tbh it gets me to where i want to go and i like it! Now! stop it :D

You've obviously never met Fox before
Have to agree with you tho :D

It's got nothing to do with what I drive.

Blatent snobbery...

Whatever, thats why I dont call the Polo the same thing, right? If it was snobbery I'd have said the same about ALL small cars.

It was a throwaway comment which has been blown up into a huge thing by people like yourself, yet again. Ah well :)

The OP clearly doesn't care, and he doesn't need you to care on his behalf.

Exactly :D

Fox, to be frank you do belittle/question a lot of people on their choice of car, at the end of the day they have to live with it, not you.

I don't belittle people on their choice of car - I'll post an opinion on A car. If thats negative, so be it. A lot of the time though, it's positive as well. It's an internet forum, he isn't being 'belittled' becuase he bought a Corsa.

Show me where I said 'haha, you bought a WHAT?'. Oh, you can't..

I even said lets not drag this off topic by continuing it but I guess the chance to have an offtopic bash about people instead of cars is like a red rag to a bull to people like Adam :)

You have to admit that you do question people more than others, perhaps belittling is the wrong word but my point still stands. In this case your opinion on the car isn't needed, we all know why stuff is expensive to service, it's because all main dealers charge a massive premium just so you can have a dealer stamp to give the false impression that the car has been serviced by 'the people who make them' which is nonsense.

I am yes

Well I would be pretty annoyed if people called my car "cheap plastic junk". If you have grafted your nuts off to buy the car you want then have some snob on an internet forum **** you off wouldn't that annoy you? Just pettyness really and totally unneccessary. Like I said, Fox's point could be made far more constructively without resorting to belittling someone over the car they drive. However, he felt the need for a cheap dig. Why? I have no idea

But you dragged it off topic by calling his car "cheap plastic junk" and taking a swipe at cars that people perceive are cheap to run. Do you really feel that comment was neccessary? I don't....

In this case, your opinion on HIS car wasn't needed. You could have said "this is why cheaper cars don't always end up being cheaper to run" and that would certainly have been entirely justified. However, you decided to go one step further and have a little dig. Your choice, just don't expect to win any fans out of the little fan club you have going on ;)
