Gordon Ramsey and his F word...

Dont worry, this is no Heads up thread.

What do you guys think of Gordon Ramsey? I think hes a pretty decent bloke but his use of the F word seems so false and put on.

Its like a catch phrase he pushes for himself. Its not even used as an expression, or to emphasise something like the word should be.

It makes me get annoyed with the bloke who i otherwise think is okay.

Plus part of me feels he swears too much infront of women who should get some gentlemanly charm and respect

As he is quite strict, when you DO get praise off him, you can smile knowing you have impressed him because of his high standards. I really like him and his style...also he's a great Dad.

Yeah thats a side that i like about him, hes pretty down to earth, and initially i thought his swearing and attitude in the kitchen was genuine, but now i feel that its becoming an act.

He says the word in every situation. I use it a lot, but i feel he just seems to be milking it.

i dont think he swears much more than a lot of people in work places.
only difference is hes on tv and doesnt dumb down his language for it.

Hmm, it's tricky...i think he swears a lot due to his passion for cooking and keeping a strict kitchen...certainly gets his 'team' into gear.

"Get a ******* move on you ****"

vs.

"Hurry up please!"

Yep and I love the things he does on f-word. The actual meal bit is a bit boring(all though I like the recipes), but all the lathing various things and using unknown cuts is great.

It's all an act. He seems like a nice guy when being interviewed. He only ever puts on the act when it's HIS show.

Sometimes his body language doesn't match with what he's saying. I'm told by someone who understands this sort of thing that he is scripted to a certain extent and it shows when he is uncomfortable with what he's saying.

Basically, I think that he's a workaholic with genuine beliefs and great skills. I'm not totally comfortable with the inclusion of his children, as with other examples of this type, but there is obvious genuine love there. He demands high levels of commitment from his staff and rewards their efforts in return.

He's also a fan of Wusthof knives - but doesn't get paid to use them.

I read an article on him a month or so back that said he's a known shagger and it's something his wife has just put up with. It mentioned he's nothing like his TV persona.

It was in an article where they also mention Clarkson has put it about a bit as well.

We have made honeycomb many times (loads of recipes on t'internet) but it's sooooooooooo dangerous. Keep the kids away!!!

Being a Chef is really like that though. It's a lot of swearing. Dont forget in 99% of restaraunts the customers cant see or hear you

Don't really like the man, think he makes far too much of a show of it.

no it's not, i've worked in a good few kitchens, you get the 'yes chef' and 'no chef', but not all the swearing, i should know, i've been in the kitchen environment for 15 years and run my own kitchen now.

If like me, any of you have worked in a busy kitchen in a restaurant then you'll know that Ramsey is TAME in comparrison to some of the chefs out there.

LOL, I love when English people say someone English is pretty down to earth!!! Most English people are down to earth, it's one of your best and worst things at the same time!!!
