Hi,

I currently work 50 miles away from my house, so I been looking for a job close to home, reduce wasted travel time, petrol costs etc etc etc.

I live in suffolk, right on the coast and basically there are no jobs at all, and limited ones within my field.

Im just so nervous as I have a lot riding on this. What can I do to be calm and collected?

I'm trying to tell myself that there are going to be no other candidates, as it seems im being interviewed before the job has closed. I also cant see many people wanting to move to where I live for the job, and I cant imagine anyone locally that would have my experience and skills.

God, hope that makes sense...... im shaking abit lolz

I find its the waitting before I go into the interview that i get nervous about the most, in the actualy interview im pretty good but when asked odd questions i sometimes just go blank hehe.

Im sure you'll do fine if you think your well qualified in the job your applying for, just have a quick think about questions you may get asked like when was the last time you helped someone or had to work hard to get a task completed kind of thing as they the ones which make me go blank hehe

good luck

My advice is not to think too much about who else might be applying for the job, even if it's in a positive way! At the end of the day you have no idea who could be applying for said job, the important thing is to focus on how you are going to present yourself, what you are going to say and so forth. Being interviewed before the job has closed isn't that uncommon depending on how the firm likes to handle these things.

You have nothing to lose by NOT getting the job, if you start thinking about how wonderful life will be with the new job you will put pressure on yourself. Ultimately if you don't nothing changes, not the end of the world etc.

I never think about "what if" or who else will be applying, who cares. Great if I get it but not losing anything if I dont.

worrying is a good thing oxy, it just shows that you want to do well in the interview, if you weren't worried then you should be worried (er, does that make sense?). A technique I use to relax myself with stressful events is focusing on what I'm going to do afterwards, maybe treat myself to something or look forward to something on the tv or a drink with friends in the evening, it's easy to get so caught up in a stressful event that you think the world is going to end (for me anyways lol).

I recently blitzed an interview and got the job, the biggest thing for me, I feel was answering qusetions such as
"tell me about a failiure/sucsess you have had"

Half the battle here is just to give a coherent answer, even if its not that impressive, as most people just freeze up, - the question is designed to see if you can think on your feet, and not fall apart under pressure, not nessesarily to give an impressive boast about somthing.

Go to this website, and make sure you can answer all the "killer questions" and I mean really answer them, out loud to yourself, so you really remember.
