Bad news for Road Tax increase protestors

It must be great to be the government, it's like running a really rubbish business but with pretty much unlimited credit available when you **** it up! These people wouldn't last 5 minutes in the real world.

What I don't understand is why a 600cc motorcycle still costs £66 per year to tax.
Surely if it's a green tax than most motorcycles should be in the £0 bracket due to taking up a tiny amount of road space while sipping petrol and chucking out relatively low emissions.
The average CO2 emissions across the motorcycle market is 110g/kM

BMW F650GS - £66 per year - 76mpg highway
Citroen C1 (1.0) - £20 per year - 69mpg highway

How is it more environmentally friendly to drive the C1 car than the F650 bike? The taxation bands are telling us that it is though.

The government doesn't want you to actually enjoy your life, haven't you forgotten that? :p

Once I've paid my £430 I'm getting maximum usage out of my car and I won't use the local bus service ever again.

Even more tax then for the Government in fuel duty. Looks like they have invented a win win scenario.

No the scary thing is they can go broke and ruin us all. The government has allready sold off all its gold reserves when gold was at a low

Now we could use that security (and others too, hence the rise) we do not have it

Am sure the Government will love you to get maximum usage out of your car .....

The more fuel you burn the more money they make off you ;)

They only way you win, Is by selling your car

Thank god my car is a bit too old.

As I've said before this is an awful move from a despirate government. I really wish there was a mechanism for constituencies to place votes of no faith in there MPs and boot them out mid term. Instead we'll get the horrible situation where Brown will hang on till the last minute making things even worse.

So applying tax after 2001 isn't doing this?
What about the current system that applys after 2006?

I'm sick and tired of this crap masquerading as environmental policy. Really makes me want to just take a gun and start shooting at things in whitehall. It's the only way these idiots in their ivory castles might listen.

Why don't they LISTEN to the people. The people don't want this, the people don't want to be part of the EU, the people don't want idiot green policies like windmills rather than sensible nuclear power. I have HAD ENOUGH.

We need civil disobedience on a large scale.

Its true about stuff masquerading as environmental policy but lets be honest if the mp's were honest the country would have a new government every 4 years and nothing would get done, I def agree with nuclear power but it is only viable for about 30 years at current usage due to finite supplies of material, wind power would be a reasonable alternative if not for short sighted nimbies. Civil disobedience will put up tax a lot but hell, why not. maybe with enough of it we can prevent the olympics coming here and billions of our tax pounds being wasted

Why is everyone so anti-olympics? I for one would love to see England put on a show to the world. Gets us all together and makes us a proud nation. Sure it costs money, but I think it's worth the tradeoff.

Seriously mate, I 100% agree.

Its like the Manchester "Congestion" charge, forced on the people with a government sweentener to the council.

This countries politicians are spending OUR money, some of its downright theft, and they should be prosecuted.

This is meant to be a democracy, yet the goverment are doing NOTHING we want.

Not repairing roads, not keeping the 10p tax bracket, going to war in Iraq, buying MP's second home and paying for all the expenses INCLUDING ******* FOOD!

Seriously, Ive had enough too.

I dont know what to do.. Im exasperated. I fancy a Riot. I was actually thinking of throwing eggs or something at Gordon Brown, not sure what that would do, but it would make me feel fractionally better.

a lot of UK expats are asked "anything you miss about the UK, would you go back?". Mostly the answer is not much and no.

MPs are effectively SERVANTS. They are here to meet the NEEDS and demands of the people, its just a bandwagon now to get greedy mitts on our cash.

We get ripped off here a lot, but our government are the worst of the ****** lot.

Ive been looking at Canada, and Aus for a less frustrating life. Still, maybe someone WILL shoot a politician, might make them frigtened enough to actually do a proper job.

Yes but its Britain.

Athetes in 4th place or more will be called "worthy contributers", the food will be Halal so not to offend anyone, the cost will be 8 times what it would cost any other country, we will get foreign athletes claiming asylum, China will win everything, and the 100m winner will be on drugs.

Apart from that, great!
