New 4800 coolers from arctic cooling

thanks for the link they do look nice, not to big :)

From what in gather thats just marketing mumbo jumbo as most if not all coolers that currently fit the 3870 will work fine on the 4870/4850 the only exception being full cover water blocks as they are designed specifically for each model.

Im currently using a HR03-GT on my 4870 which ofcourse designed for the 8800GT, atleast those are the only instructions supplied with it :P

20CFM per fan? seems reasonable, what mm are those fans? whats their max speed.

TBH id rather not hear about it till i have specs. just a bloody picture is well annoying

Looks very promising and at 34mm high there hopefully won't be any clearance issues for crossfire.

Where have i seen that design before :D

Hmmm... can't put my finger on it...

Reckon it will be worth getting one of these for the 4870? I quite like the idea of dual slot cooling (comes as standard on the 4870 right?) pushing that hot air straight out of the case.

Those coolers clearly dont push the air straight out of the case though.

The main thing is not the fans lol, look at the cooler designed, they use heatpipes and bigger heatsinks to spread the heat more.

I'd have thought venting out the rear of the case would be a better design, you can certainly feel the heat my 3870x2 chucks out the back under load - ow!

depends on your case and cooling really - with a watercooled cpu and nb + good airflow it's not a big deal tbh....with all air cooling then yeh a dual slot exhaust cooler would be better i guess.

Yeah that's what I was trying to say above, but think people didn't understand me and thought I was talking about these coolers, not the stock ones!
