I'd consider myself a very scientifically minded guy. I study a scientific degree, I'm fascinated by maths and various branches of science and I employ scientific principles in my work to get things done.

Same here. I study physics and maths and yet I absolutely do not consider science to provide an absolute and unbiased ontology/cosmology.

It's very important to understand the limitations of science and what it is in fact intended to do if you're to use it in arguments like these.

People seem to be confused over my exact persusion. So I'm going to attempt to clear things up.

I believe that everything more or less in the Bible is open to various interpretations, and I am open to most of these.

If science proves something to be so, then it is so, science can therefore cancel out if you like an interpretation.

I also believe that there is probably elements of "spiritual truth" so to speak contained within other religions.

OK those options don't fit into my views

I don't believe in God so therefore can't believe in the devil etc as they were all created by God, iirc lucifer was one of his high tear angels.
I believe there is something out there but I have an opinion of what it is.
I kind of believe in multiple deities but it's not easy to explain - see later :D

I already know I'm weird as hell and some of its quite contradictory but hey I don't force other people to believe it :) Basic jist below.

Believe in elemental forces (earth, wind, water, fire and metal) which are the basis of everything giving it a spirit/lifeforce - represented by a pentagram with the centre pentagon being the spirit/lifeforce.

I see the Earth (and others too) as a living entity, kind of imagine gia from final fantasy the spirit within, earthquakes etc are her reminding us that she's here.

I have a gaurdian spirit/angel (although technically not an angel as this is relating to God) which looks over me and protects me.

I have spirit guides (like the american indians) - in my case a wolf, phoenix and dragon, each one represents an element(s) and aspect of my personality - which help me along my chosen path(s).

Everything has the ability to be both 'good' and 'evil'

I believe that when I die I will be reborn as myself at the beginning of my life so that I can relive my life but on a different path. A new path is created at each decision in my life (ie multiple reality branch theory stuff). These life paths all run within the same 'time' and also explain deja vu etc (you saw it in another life).
This is a get out of jail card for the Big Bang/creation of the universe theories - when the big crunch happens it will create a new big bang due to the reirth and taking a new path, this is all within the same time and as such removes the questions of where is all the energy etc coming from and how it all started/ends :D:o

I also understand that other people have different views/beliefs, I feel that everyone is entitled to their own opinions on such a personal topic as at the end of the day its usually a form of comfort for most people. However I would never force anyone to adopt my beliefs (I doubt anyone would want to :)) and I wouldn't want anyone to try and force me to believe another 'belief', not that it would work as I'm stubborn.

oooh - turned into a long post - sorry :)

possible because God wanted it to, possibly no greater reason, your guess is as good as mine really.

So do you believe in a merciful god or a vengeful god, if god is merciful how did he allows 70K people to be killed in the Chinese earthquake, if's he's vengeful then these people must have been horrible sinners.

How could god just sit by and watch 70K people die?

I must be special seen as Im a horrible sinner and I aint been killed yet or its shows hes a merciful god.

I like the special bit personally. :)

Who said god had anything to do with that earthquake? maybe God isn't powerful enough to stop it. I don't know is the answer.

Well if he made it then he should be able to stop it really. Maybe he was in bog when it happened, that could be the reason.

There's a whole branch of theology dealing with problems like this:
