What next? Yes I'm asking for a spec me.

Im a little confused, your not buying another scoob because of the "theft factor" but yet your considering all sorts of performance cars. If your going to keep the same attitude of not having a subaru because of it being nicked again i suggest you go out and buy a £500 banger ......

What a ***** world we live in ....

Goes one step further that just that simple way of thinking when your family are involved though!

But he's considering all sorts of quick cars that professional carjackers are going to know are both fast and valuable, just like a Scoob.

Deciding to get a Focus instead = understandable

Deciding to get, say, an M3 next = pointless.

Either accept the risk and buy a performance car, in which case there is no reason not to get another Impreza if thats your favourite type of car, or decide the risk is too much and leave the performance car market.

agreed, while I think its honourable etc that you are putting your family and friends first, what makes you think that driving an impreza again is going to put you more in any more danger than an evo, or an m3 or any other obvious performance car for that matter?

I'll second the s2k comments.

The centre of the boot is low, so you can fit quite a lot in there, and theres room behind the seats if your relatively short.

IMO it totally blows the impreza out the water in anything but straight line. and your looking at closer to 5.6 to 60 if you give it full bore. Its a real drivers car, where you needto want to be involved to go fast.. exactly how I like it. Plus, drop top is awesome in the dry weather :)

I can see what you're saying but in B'ham you have a less risk and more risk set of choices, even then any car is at risk of theft.

Owning a popular 4 door vehicle is asking for trouble in the area, ie. Subaru, RS4/6. An E46 M3 would be less likely to get stolen as the demand isn't as high/no usage for it.

When you're a victim of car crime and have a family it would be wise to hide your vehicle and have a poor vehicle to run around in or just choose something great but not great to organised crime.

Are Impreza's that much more likely to be targetted by scum than most of the other cars mentioned in this thread?

Yes (apart from maybe the Evo)

Ask anyone in the police force which cars are most carjacked and it's usually Scoobs. They're a car jackers dream. Fast, easy to drive, 4 doors, plenty available to steal etc.

There have been similarly huge problems with Audi RS4's and BMW M5's. I guess anything you can fit 5 scumbags and a boot full of stolen crap into and then leave the scene pronto.

What about an E39 M5?

Very fast, refined, would fit all your kit, will get a facelift model for the higher end of the budget. If you can insure one it would be hard to beat...

+1

After an STi I can't see insuring an M5 being that much of an issue ?
