I have 2 spare contracts with Vodafone that I needed in the past which are now superfluous to my requirements.
I called them up but they said they can only cancel contracts if I send them a letter even though they are both well outside of the minimum terms.
WTH is up with that?

They also told me yesterday to put it into writing.

Gutted that my 100% discount has been pulled up after 4.5 years :O

Every contract I've had with o2/orange have always asked me to send a written letter. o2 however did allow me to send an email this year :D

So does the contract automatically cancel itself once the PAC been used? I am gonna request my PAC tomorrow from vodafone, they seem to have a cancellation and PAC department, would be easier to directly request my PAC if the contract gets automatically cancelled once its used.

Thats exactly what happens. In order for your number to ported from one network to another, it has to be a live number currently active on the network. It's not possible to have the same number live and active on 2 networks at the same time, so once you give you PAC to another network and the number transfers over, it automatically cancels on the original network.

However, you can keep a contract alive and still use a PAC code.

We have moved numbers from live contracts to new networks, but kept the old contract alive with a new number.

So PAC request != Cancellation.
