Is Saxo VTR radiator same as VTS ?

Hi guys, my vts radiator has spung a leek & is squirting onto the exhaust manifold pipe lol.. joy. God that sounds dirty lol.
I've tried radweld stuff with little yoy.

As my car is an old P reg & Im loathed to spend £75 on a new radiator so will start phoning/looking round breakers yards for an old one.
Being as there will prob be more vtr than vts im wondering if i can use a vtr radiator?
There are 2 fan housings on my current radiator but only 1 has a fan, strange?

Dont think I'll find a 106gti or vts with a nice radiator at a breakers yard. Doh!

Ahh yer the 2nd fan looks to be for air-con, I always thought the saxo never had air-con or maybe they just provisioned for it.
 
On the contintent you could get aircon. But no VTR and VTS rads are different, get a nissens ally rad. They are only about 40-50 quid and watch your running temps plummet. Just watch you don't damage it when fitting it because the fins bend very easily.
 
£40-£50 sounds better :) I'll have a look.
I get the impression citroen made this engine to run on the edge of performance/engineering. With an oil temp guage & some secondary cooling branching off from the radiator unlike a normal saxo.
I felt proud to watch top-gear last week when that merc amg warned to wait till the oil is warm before driving enthusiastically, like my old banger lol.
 
Fitted a Nissens ally rad to my 306gti6 and haven't had any problems since. Also lighter than the OE one :D
 
£75 is less than the cost of a tank of fuel and surely your time looking for a used one is worth more than the difference in price between new and used...

£75 is less than a tank of fuel in an M5, it is certainly not less than a tank of fuel in a saxo. £75 would get you nearly 1 and 2/3rds of a tank.
 
£75 of petrol would get me 450 miles around town lol
Ive never put more than £10 in it lol.

Im goin try limp along till i get paid on 22nd, the coolant is going down very slow, just get steam because it hits the exhaust.

If your only doing short journeys then undo the cap when you arrive to release pressure, however you don't want to do this on long journeys as you will scold your hand if you not careful.
 
GSF or local motorfactors will get you a new one for around the £50 mark as said. It's a nice easy job fitting it yourself too - I did mine in an afternoon, and I'm nowhere near competent or even very confident doing jobs on cars.

Are you taking the mick? 75 quid is very cheap for a radiator and second hand ones are just false economy.

If its really that big a deal why are you running a hot hatch?
 
Well the car only cost £600 & insurance is only £250 so I thought that was ok, but yeah you're right: I didnt figure on running costs eg. a 1.4 saxo rad would be cheaper & more available.
Its much nicer to drive than the 1.2 fiesta I had before though :)
