E.A CANCEL Madden Franchise on PC Platform - Jump on the "Piracy" bandwagon

EA only ever make a good game when their profits are in jeopardy. Otherwise they just churn out crap.

I find the piracy claims amusing though, as how many people who have gone to the trouble of downloading tons and tons of data, would actually buy it if they couldn't pirate it? EA work out their $ loss figures by counting every pirated download as a lost sale. But they probably wouldn't have bought it anyway.

The annoying thing is that it's the kind of sport which would lend itself well to being played with a keyboard (in addition to gamepad) - i.e. standard controls on gamepad but loads of shortcuts for play selection on keyboard, audibles, issuing on-the-fly instructions to teammates etc

Indeed, how game developers/publishers arrive at the pirated amount: x - y = z

x = the amount they would have liked to have sold in magical fantasy land
y = the actual amount of people who bought it
z = pirates! yargh me hearties.

Isn't it obvious EA and all company's involved with them ( crytek, etc) all try to convince you the bad sales are because of piracy ? I wouldn't trust EA for anything anymore and the only publisher that is really positive about the PC still is Valve.
Interesting comment. It would be nice to know how positive Valve would be about the PC if they didn't have their own distribution service which offers a degree of protection (yes, I know that nothing is perfect) against piracy...

It's just as easy to pirate Steam games as it is any other game. You get them from the same dodgy places and they work using the same dodgy methods.

The way things are going with the PC games industry, I can see NVidia and ATI paying the developers/publishers to develop/port PC games.

I find it funny how the OP berates EA for deciding not to bring out Madden 09 on the PC but also thinks the PC versions are crap anyway. It seems to me that its a win win situation.

Madden hasn't exactly been the biggest innovator each year but the recent years iterations since they became the sole developers of NFL games have been decent and solid on the consoles but the PC equivalents have never been up to scratch in comparison.

I loved the 2K franchise but since they lost the rights, the Madden's haven't been all that bad, 09 tries some new things graphically and if it keeps the same engine as 08 its a decent football game.

Does this mean that E.A is also pulling their "Were supporting the Apple MAC" pledge?

After all, I thought they had some funky software which "converted" the PC version to the MAC?

I can not see them developing MAC only versions if the PC ones are not making enough money.

SORRY, MY BAD. Piracy does not exist on the MAC :)

ive bought madden for the last 4 years in a row, the fact that they announced it being canceled angered me for all of 10 mins and then i thought, oh well i dont care to be honest, Every year it was nothing but a roster update which you can get free from the community updates which are often better anyway.

EA are pap and we all know it.

It's an american throwy ball game.

Certainly not fun to play, stick with a real football game like PES 6 :D

"They wouldn't have bought it anyway"
LOL
I just love it when pirate scum attempt to justify their actions in that way.
