Hello all. I recently plugged in Banjo Kazooie on the n64 and was just blown away. I can't remember any other game which has had so much love put in it, everything is sublime. The level design is just something else and oh my the music! Probably one of my favourite games ever. No wonder I thought Mario 64 was rubbish, it really is compared to Banjo Kazooie (which sadly I happened to play first).

There was a sequel called Banjo Tooie which came out when the n64 was on its last legs and as such I havn't actually heard of anyone playing it. I really want to get my hands on it but its quite expensive on the bay.

What are your opinions on this game? The levels are supposed to be bigger and there is more variety to the gameplay... but that isn't always a good thing!

Another one here who never played in and wished he had; Banjo Kazooie was top notch! I really want Rare to get on board with the Virtual Console, but can't see it happening!

Any chance of a short mini review? I've found a few on the net but I'm not convinced.

Not really, I played it so long ago that I find it hard to remember much of it or even differentiate it from kazooie. All I remember is that I enjoyed it as much as kazooie and that it wasn't much different.

I have Banjo Tooie boxed as new. Banjo Kazooie was one of the many N64 gems and I must have pumped 100 hours and more into it. Bought Tooie a few years ago and didn't have the patience for it, would have been a different story if I played it when it came out though.

Same as the other guy, I cant really remember much of the game but I enjoyed it as much as the first.

Did you try donkey kong 64 as well? Another awesome game imo.

I had Banjo Tooie. :)

It's much of a muchness imo, very similar to the first game, although personally I didn't think it was quite as good, but there's very little in it. It adds a couple of so-so extra gameplay elements (an FPS mode, a mini-driving/bumper cars mode, and some others), and gives you the ability to split Banjo and Kazooie up for certain challenges. The world map/level format is changed too, where you have to go back to a main hub room when you get enough Jiggies, and do one of those spinny jigsaw puzzles that were minigames in the original. And notes are all but irrelevant now IIRC.

I personally preferred the first game, as I thought they tried to add extra stuff to BT purely because they had nothing truly innovative to add, and needed changes, but the changes aren't massive detractions. Still a very good game.

I loved the Banjo games.
I would actually buy and then sell once completed, a 360, just for Banjo Kazooie 3.

Anyone played the LIVE! arcade rerelease of this? I never played much of the N64 original cause the frame rate sucked at the best of times, but the 360 seems to be able to cope nicely? - although its 1200 points, quite expensive.

Anyone?

Yeah I have, had a free code to download it when I brought Nuts and Bolts. Looks nice on the 360 but I only played it once as I spent hours on the N64 version back in the day.
Was my very first N64 game I brought for £50 back then, paid £60 for Donkey Kong 64:eek: on release though. Was so hard to find a shop with stock as it came with the expansion pack.

Banjoo kazooie was fantastic, the only game my friends borrowed and then never returned! It wasnt just the fact it was fun to play but there were elements that were quite challenging.

Didnt get a chance to play tooie as it pretty much came out at the end of the n64's lifespan, which was a shame as Im sure it would have been good.

Rare had a great way with games back then, shame they moved on from Nintendo I think we would have seen some great games.

My god! after MGS (and before FF7 turns up) this is the next game on my retro list of things to complete!

Banjo Kazzoie is one of the best games of all time (well in my opinion anyway) and BFD is one of the last great games released on the n64, i just wish i got tooie when it came out....

From what i remember playing my couisins verision it suffered from in game fog to hid the limits of the console, which was a bit lame compaired to the style of the original. Still worth playing though (if you can find it at a resonable price, bearing in mind i payed £30 for BFD about 4-5 years ago)
