Do any of you older guys find you never enjoy games like you used to when you were younger ??? or is it this me

(Is there any other 30+ gamers on here apart from myself :o )

I would say we are harder to please & there are to many games that are no more than graphical updates to what we have been playing over the decades.

am 29 so not 30+ but know exactly what you mean, games just dont seem to have anything diff.. currently im in a constant cycle of installing games, playing for a couple of nights then getting bored and trying somthing else. i just cant get into anything atm :(

I'm far more picky that I used to be. Most modern games usually strike me as a graphic dressing up of the same old stuff. The deluge of FPS dross just makes me sad. Decent use of Multiplayer via the internet is always a plus point however. I used to play a lot of Quakeworld via 33.6 modem years ago, yet the modern games don't play really any better even with a 16Mb broadband connection - same old lag and even worse coding.

I tend to find myself playing the updated old favourites with Multiplayer nowadays, eg C&C Tiberium Wars, UT3 and the current favourite is Race Driver : GRID. Even the modern strategy games can't beat a bit of SimCity4.

Best game ever - Elite on the BBC Micro. All the flapping leaves in the breeze on Crysis can't beat proper gameplay!

I'm well over 30 and the only game that keeps my interest is WoW, mainly for the social aspect as I enjoy raiding with my guild, and having a laugh on Vent.
I find my reactions aren't as good as young players at games like CSS or UT, so that puts me of those a bit as getting headshotted all the time by trash talking 12 year olds can grate a bit after a while

37 here, so i guess i can comment.

for me the main problem is lack of time.
i've got 2 kids under 2 years old, so i never get the time for those long gaming sessions anymore.
in fact i probably get about an hour a week if i'm lucky.

still like a nice strategy game though, or OTTD.
anything i can put down immediately if needs be.

haven't been able to play first person shooters in a while.
i get motion sickness / really bad headaches after about 30 mins play.
never used to, am putting that down to an age thing.

LOL! Some of the kids on GRID are really annoying at the moment - everything turns into a demolition contest at the first corner. What I lack in recklessness I make for in guile, cunning and consistency which come with age. :D

Hang on - I'm only thirty-two!

well...i am 47....and play medal of honor spearhead.....been playing it from the beginning and I am in an active gaming clan playing objective matches....i still love it today as much as when first started...have got all the new games as well, CRYSIS,COD4 BF2 etc etc...but spearhead is still my first love...got lots of friends through playing it and while i enjoy what i am doing cant see me stopping just yet ;)

I'm over 30, and I have to say that generally speaking I find most modern games lacking.

Sure, they have pretty graphics, and shiny water and metal and what not...but to be honest most of them dont have the gameplay of older games. Ironically enough I find that when people ask me what my top 5 games of the last 30 years are, all 5 end up being pre-2000 titles.

I think what it boils down to is that in the "old" days, games couldnt do the shiny graphics, so they had to sell you their product based on its gameplay. Whereas today, they can simply throw some screenshots on some websites and the back of the boxes and sell it on people going "ooh", "wow" and "look at those graphics!"

To be honest, I am not sure whether that says more about how the developers have changed, or more about how the playerbase has changed.

Same here, i started waning about 6-7 years ago now, i can't even manage 5 minutes on a game now, i dunno wether it is as im getting to old for them (36), or because games releases seem to have been tailing off for a while, we used to get loads of top games all the time, but now theres hardly any biggies get released, and they keep getting delayed.

Im 26 and i just get bored (very low attention span these days when it comes to gaming) so i just play now and again certain games. The only thing i constantly play because each game is diff is worms armageddon and open ttd.

Over 40 let alone 30 :D

Just cannot bring myself to play anything at the moment, last 3 games I played were Stalker, CoD4 and Bioshock enjoyed each and all for different reasons but, I just cannot be bothered :(

What was the question again?;)

I can play BF2, 2142 and COD4 all day. I think im quite good even at 33...and anyone thats complaining about bad reactions at such a low age (30's) is going to have real problems in the years to come!!! My real gaming problems are getiing the kids off my computer!

only thing i dont like is reactions getting a little bit slower :(.my kid pulled out my master socket last week and i was without internet for a week bout went crazy.it was a nice break though and coupled with a nice new graph card im enjoying cod4 again now.

37 here...

I still play nearly every day, enjoy a blast on TF2, and DOD:Source on the PC and play on the 360 but not as much as i did when i was younger.

Prob becuase i dont have the time anymore, always got something to do around the house, working etc etc.
I still enjoy it when i do play though and its my main hobby.. cant see myself giving it up anytime soon.
