Students: Weekly food spend

Well everyday I spend £1.40 for Breakfast x7
For lunch I buy a pack of wafer thin ham and a pack of corned beef(both quality stuff) £3
This lasts me 3 days so just say x2 + £1
I buy a Warburtons thick cut loaf which lasts 3 days £1.05 x2 + 35p

I usually spend £5 a day on my evening meal(steak, chicken, lamb etc..) Which included the veg. x 7

Then the usual cakes biscuits and crisps which comes to about £2 x7

Total

£67.20

for a start a decent evening meal can easily be done for under £2.50

so minus 2.50x7 = £17.50. for a start

so that already got you budget down to less than £50

Be very careful what you spend your money on.. Pre-packed ham and chicken is expensive..

Breakfast could be much cheaper too.. What do you eat? Whats wrong with eating porridge? Oats are 50p a Kilo

you can get 15 eggs for about £1.40!!

if you want to go all out bacon sarnies cost less than £1.40 too

P.S I hope you don't shop at Marks and Sparks!!

edit:

I'm making a turkey korma right now!!

£2.97 for just under 600g of turkey

I'm using 300g + brown rice I already had and some sauce which was <£1 For 2 people thats just over £2.50 a lot less than £3 to feed 2 people...

Usually I wouldn't use sauce but she wants it :(

Depends how far you live from a supermarket and if you're house sharing.
This year was in the centre of Bristol, only Tesco metros about, so that cost a lot. And also no freezer space because of inconsiderate ****ing students, so that cost a lot. Not making these mistakes again.

We spend about £50 a week between two of us. Could easily be less, but we don't really eat the same things so there's no point buying anything in bulk.

Wow those prices for weekly spend on food are cheapo, I was thinking more like 50-100 just for me :p, looks like it might be a little easier to live when I go to uni :p

Just priorities alcohol and spend the rest on food. Job done!

£25ish including lunch in uni.

I have to say I find that rather unbelievable. Lunch in uni surely costs £3 a pop assuming a sandwich and a snack.

I don't think I could spend less than £25.

Two packs of mince £4.50, two packs of chicken £6... thats almost half of it gone already!

Decent quality meat is the real stinger. I try to supplement it with other things. I make big vats of bolognese and alike (eat some, freeze the rest), and instead of using 500g of mince, I'll use 250 - 300g, and use a shedload of mushrooms as well. Can make things easier on the pocket ;)

Thats a lot for one week though, two packs of mince is surely at least enough for four meals...

Yeah I guess that's where bodybuilding gets expensive!

I confess, if I'm not bulking I will rarely use mince. I'm much more of a chicken and sausage man myself. A weeks shop can get very cheap if you make a mass of bolognese and eat it over 2 days or more.

I'm currently into my vegetarian curries. Great way to get all 5 veg in one meal :D
