What cable to play xbox on pc monitor

Hiya.

Giving a friend a 17" PC Monitor to play his xbox 360 on. Hes using a 15" CRT so i thought it might not be great but would be a hell of a lot better. So, i was convinced xbox 360's had a VGA socket on the back. I was wrong :mad:

which cable do i need to hook it up to my monitor (My monitor only has VGA)

There is the official microsoft VGA cable available for *** xbox360. Will be found in any gaming retailer for about £10-15.

You can get a 360 VGA cable. One end is male VGA VGA and the other is the propriety xbox 360 AV connection (which is why you don't see a VGA port on your 360).

To save time, many people will come to this thread and say buy the official cable and not some 3rd party lead, so just do that.

What he said, the lead comes with a male to female connector just in case you need that for the monitor.

cant say anything more than rp2k said except the cable itself comes with a l/r audio jack with a 3.5mm combined cable so i would see what sound sources area available also.

I use mine through an AMP but i am not sure what else they could plug into, someone else could probably clear this up.

I used to have mine through an amp, now got them plugged in through optical (Im not sure if an optical cable is included in the pack, I have one but it may have come with the console) You can also used the adapter to run it into a line in port on a Hi-fi or PC soundcard though I haven't tried either.

Offical VGA cable without a doubt.

An optical cable isn't supplied with either IIRC.

I had to buy mine separately.

I got an optical cable with my official vga cable.
