Reserved a Samsung LE46A656A1FXXU at £1020

Just to check if this set is ok & theres nothing bad about it, will be used for SD broadcasts (possibly freesat in the future) and with a PS3

If there is anything better it needs to be in that shiny piano black finish, I would go to 50" but would prolly look too big realistically.

Cheers

I have 42" A456 I think, its really good. Most people will recommend a kuro or a panasonic.

I have no complains with my sammy, got it from john lewis with 5 year warranty!! woot woot!

Not seen the screen myself, but generally speaking Plasmas offer better SD images than LCD.

Not a fan of LCD myself, I think that colours are oversaturated and they cope badly with movement.

However, if you pop over to avforums you can find decent settings for just baout every screen and if you like the picture it produces then that's the main thing.

I've got the 40 inch version of the 656.

My lcd history includes:

Sony: 32s2000, 40w2000.
Mirai: 32dtlv200
Samsung: 32R87
Tosh: 37xv505

The 40a656 BY FAR is the best lcd i've ever witnessed. Granted i havent seen the new sony w4000 yet but the 40a656 is truly exceptional and according to reviews has better SD than the w4000. I watched casino royal on bluray this morning, and seeing that with accurate colours, pitch black blacks, and 24p smoothness was a sight to behold. truly truly great tv.

Don't go and see a good plasma othewise those opinions will change a lot ;)

Im well happy with my 40inch A656. I dont think the 46" version has a good a screen though (no superclear glass).

It has transformed the look of GTA on my Xbox. SD looks pretty awesome too given the a decent feed (BBC sport rather than ITV for example!)

Don't get me wrong, I know a plasma will produce a better image, but i got the 40" 656 for £640, I game a lot and use the tv as a pc monitor, and most of all; I sit 4-5 feet from the screen and a plasma would burn my face off at that distance :D

Righty, with those specs an LCD is definately the choice for you :D

PC monitor use and uber gaming warrants itself towards an LCD. Plu with your nose nice and close to the screen 1080p will be noticable.

Just watch out for the samusung reliabaility problems and annoying niggles. Hopefully yours will be ok, touch wood.

I've got the one in my spec, use it mainly as a PC monitor, very happy with it. got a load of cheap HD-DVD and these are great.
