Stumbled upon this article by mistake when spell checking Jeremy Clarkson's name.

While Jeremy Clarkson, the denim-clad high priest of the nation's unreconstructed middle-aged males, makes a reputed £1m a year to host the BBC's hugely popular – and lucrative – motoring programme, his co-presenters, Richard Hammond and James May, have long been relegated to a lower pay bracket of about £15,000 per show.

I did a search and couldn't find anything, but if another thread exists, then by all means delete this one. Like I even needed to say it. ;)

£15k an episode, there's about 10 episode per "season" and 2 seasons a year. Works out about £300k a year.

Its not bad wages when you look at it like that.

Why are they complaining? Without TG, their careers would be next to nothing. Remember years ago when TG finished when Clarkson left, the shows popularity nearly ceased to exist. Clarkson has presented TG for 20 years now, the others have been there, what? Five years? They seem to forget all he has done for the show. If he were to leave again and leave it to them two then I seriously doubt it would last more than two episodes.

Bloody hate it when people whinge like this over wages, when they already earn in excess of £300,000 a year.

Not to mention it's an awesome job to do. I remember reading about it in the paper, and Clarkson said they wouldn't leave because it's too good of a job to drop, and that he would even pay to host the show.

Now that negotiations have finished the people who do the Simpsons' voices earn $400,000 per episode (average 22) per year. They don't even act or get up from their seat in a recording studio!

if they are worth more why should they not push for it, why should contract bartering only go on at positions which command less than £30k (or whatever daft figure you want to put on it)?

You cannot compare the revenue created by top gear with that created by the simpsons.

Top gear is a fantastic show but still has only a cult following worldwide, The simpsons is a money making machine worldwide and has been for nearly 20 years.

The guys who do the simpsons deserve the cash and If Hammond and May can get more cash as well then good luck too them
