Bloc Party - Mercury

WOW, thats different, they're going for more clubby stuff like they did with flux. Didn't they say they were doing flux as a one off and not to worry, but maybe they did it as an experiment then decided to go down the more kinda of drum n bass (?) path.

Its ok but i hope the rest of the album is a little bit better.
 
Don't like that at all. Flux was very good and I've loved the last two albums. I hope their new albums isn't like this.
 
What happened to the band? That was just drums and vocals. The rest was samples.

and Flux was good :(
 
Oh yeah i forgot to mention that, if the entire album is like this, how on earth will they perform it live. Surley the guitarists will be a bit lost as to what to do.
 
I read an interview in NME sometime before christmas about the the bands new direction and it was all about Kele wanting to do less guitar based stuff and more club/dance type stuff.

If I was the other memebers of the band I would have told him to stuff it and walked away, but I suppose they are just going along with it and seeing what happens.

But this is horrid. If they play this sort of crap at Leeds/Reading in August they are going to get a few bottles aimed at their heads imo.

If they get bottled at Leeds/Reading, it will only confirm that Leeds/Reading is the worst festival in Britain.

I really liked Flux and it's a great track live. I'm not so sure about this single. I'll reserve judgement until I hear the rest of the album.

Agree.

It was brilliant when I saw them at Alexandra Palace at the end of last year.

New one, no so sure yet, but like you I'm going to wait to hear the rest of the 3rd album before I decide :)
 
I thought this was better than Flux (which was a terrible song).
to be honest, I think they had to progress a bit really or it'd all become very stale, very fast. They couldn't keep doing the Gang of Four thing for every album!
 
LOL i think its OK, its growing on me, just not bloc party really lol. And im not sure if they're wised up as to how to do it live.
 
Was hoping it would be good, listened to half of it and could anymore.

Love their previous albums but this song is definitely not as good as anything theyve previously done
