Has anyone been there?

Me and a few friends are thinking of heading out there for one of our close friends stag parties. I use the term 'stag party' reluctantly, as we will not be running around with matching t-shirts with hilarious nick names and the appropriate year plastered across them. However, that is the reason for the short weekend holiday.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced, or even heard, good/bad things about the place. We have no real reason for choosing it other than the fact its cheap and a fairly unusual destination.

Hostel has put me off for life, if that's the place.

Exactly what I thought at first :)

However, in real life it looks quite different -

Bratislava is a really nice (and small) capital.

It is nothing like Hostel in any shape, way or form.

Wasn't most of hostel filmed in Prague anyhow?

Edit: Yup. "Despite the fact that most of the movie is set in a small fictional location near Bratislava, Slovakia, actually not a single sequence was shot in Slovakia. The filming locations were at the Barrandov Studios, in Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic. In addition to the lower costs of filming in the Czech Republic, Barrandov has well-equipped sound stages, making it a popular choice for US productions set in Europe. 95% of the film was shot on location in and around Prague, and the stage was only used for the main torture rooms."

Weird, I had heard that Hostel was shot there as well - Must be a really common mistake by the looks of things.

Anyway, thanks guys - Sounds good, looks like we will go for it.

Out of interest, whats he kind of 'cost of living' out there? Transport, meals, beer etc.
