As per title. I just bought a 4870 but am thinking I might return it.

Since I bought a 360, I have barely touched my pc for gaming. And now that I have tried the 4870 it doesn't show large gains in some games over my 3870 due to CPU holding back - even OCed to 3GHz. My choice is return 4870, or upgrade CPU.

I looked through a list of releases this year on PC, and nothing really grabbed me, but its possible there is something not on that list, or something I missed thats coming out that I will want to play.

I am looking for PC exclusives here, as if its coming out on the 360, its hardly going to steer me towards keeping a gaming pc.

And please don't say FPS games based purely on the fact that you can play with keyboard and mouse, as I have gotten quite used to the controller on the 360.

Edit: and please no "consoles suck" responses, or anything like that.

I don't know if it's going to be this year now but it was suppossed to be. The only game that will eat away my life if it's as good as it's predecssors is Elite 4. I believe it is PC only as well (though this will change if its a mssive hit).

Hmmm, if thats anything like X3 I will get bored before I figure out how to play it properly. If its like Descent Freespace 2 I will love it. Though info on the title is scarce, and its sounding like it may never come out, let alone come out this year or next.

Thing is, at the moment the 360 comes close to matching the quality of a lot of PC games, but the PC will pull ahead as the 360 gets older, and you'll start to see stuff on the PC that makes one worth having.

Stalker: Clear Sky?

I thought about that, but I could not stand the first....

Thanks for that list Mohawk. Though I think its made the PC look a little less appealing :(

The only PC exclusives are:
Crysis Warhead - Yeah, I like Crysis and wouldn't mind giving this a go.
Dragon Age - Not sure whether it'll be my cup of tea
Stalker Clear Sky - Didn't like first
Spore - Might be interesting, but not sure would require powerful hardware
Empire Total War - never played any of em
Dawn of War 2 - never played any of em either

Titles that defo appeal, but are coming to console as well are:
Far Cry 2
Fallout 3
Aliens: Colonial Marines
Prince of Persia
Left 4 dead
Project Origin

So the question is, are those PC exclusives good enough to warrant hundreds of £ in hardware?

Stuff like Fallout 3 and Far Cry 2 I'm not going to risk buying for the PC and then being unable to play them at good settings. I am just getting both of those for the 360 as I know they are going to look superb and will play fantastic without having to mess about for ages with settings and stuff.

some really good games on the horizon.new stalker looks awesome, mirrors edge, alan wake, cod 5,spore,new tombraider.lots to look forward to.

I'm tempted to give the first Stalker game another shot cos I only played it for like 2-3 hours but got bored of it and found the combat really annoying.

Think you missed my point: what are the PC exclusives that would make a 4870 worthwhile.

All those you mention, bar Stalker and Spore, are going to be available on the 360.

There are none this year then...if none of what's already been said applies to the question you asked then the answer would be no, there are no PC exclusives this year that would make a 4870 worthwhile.

For me Dawn of War 2 and Warhammer Online are decent enough reasons to have a gaming PC for this year. Without doubt there will be other gems that sneak in under the radar. Not to mention Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 next year (or maybe the year after!).

Warhammer Online isn't exactly going to be too demanding. It looks similar to WoW in terms of graphics (don't start having a go at me for comparing it to WoW, all's I said are that the graphics look similar). Which would lead me to believe that they are aiming to make the game work on old and new computers like WoW does.

for feks sake we do not need any new games !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bf2
CoH
SINS
DOD:s
COD4
MTWII
TF2
LOTRO
GRID
GP4

thats just a few of the games i havent stopped playing for beards !! if you want new eye candy and 2hrs of gameplay stick with a console <<<<

It just means I can game at 1920x1200 with all the bells and whistles on and still get a decent framerate. Works for me! As they share the same base inspiration it isn't a surpise they are similar :D

I could probably run it on my system on max I would have thought if WoW is anything to go by. It will probably be similar to or a bit lower than LotRO's requirements imo and I can run LotRO maxed at around 30-40 FPS which is good enough for me when it comes to an MMO.

Hmm, so thats £300 on a cheap computer and £200 on an XBox

Or

£500 on a decent computer?

Guess it is pretty even, but I like building computers so that wins for me!

PK!
