hi guys

could someone define B Grade stock? What sort of conditions is it in? Is it always working? Can I send back?

cheers

The main product (eg motherboard) is fully working, but may not have anything other than the core product itself.

Eg;
No backplate,
no battery

that sort of thing.

What he said. Its stuff which had been opened and returned, but it always works (apparently!) If it doesn,t you send it back. I bought a b-grade mobo, and that was all it was, no cables, no backplate nothing.

I'm not going to be able to test it when I get it as I wasn't planning on buying so soon but the price was very good - how long do I have to return if any probs?

14 day usually - then it remainder of manifactures warrentee.
If it's going to sit on a shelve maybe not best idea - that said never had a b-grade fail on me yet.

Some places consider reconditioned units as b-grade , i bought i job lot of b-grade wireless routers, all of them worked and they were in brown boxes but some had signs of use and some had leads or opreating instructions missing.

There really is a thread like this every week.

If there's an item (or items) in b grade stock that you are interested in, it's best to cintact OcUK directly.

If it was explained I wouldn't need to make a thread =)

anyway so the general opinion is the main product will be working fully but be missing packaging/accessories and show signs of use? And I have at least 7 days to return for whatever reason.

The general opinion is that it varies for every product, so either send them a webnote or e-mail them, it only takes 5 minutes.

Sometimes everything's there but they come in damaged packaging or something minor like that. I think OcUK may not honour the full warranty on them however as they're effectively being sold as used. I'm not sure if the full warranty would be honoured if you sent it back directly to the manufacturer, but legally I don't see why they wouldn't, at worst they might as for a receipt from the retailer.

All b-grade kit is dangerous and causes fires.
(That should stop people buying it and leave it all for me...)

But seriously, it's sometimes worth the "will I get a backplate/packaging" gamble. I've never had any problems with OcUK b-grade.

i had a bgrade motherboard that didn't work, paid about a tenner for it, didn't get to test it for ages before using it, just threw it out in the end

i've had tons of bgrade stock that was perfectly fine though :) (many motherboards)

Is there any way of testing a motherboard without having an entire system? I have an old PSU etc. but is there any way of testing if the mobo functions before I order the rest of my kit? I don't have a spare CPU, no DDR3 at the moment etc.

You'll need at least a CPU, RAM and graphics card. I'm in a similar position as I just nabbed a bargain off OcUK B Grade and have no DDR3 RAM :o

I've got a B-Grade monitor from OcUK. Nothing wrong with it. Only thing was it didn't have the retail box and instructions.

Bought a b-grade DFI X48-T2R, and the packaging looked like it had come from a car-boot sale but everything was there so I can't complain.
