Would a 6800gt card run grid at all?

I was running DiRT on my laptop with a 7900GS, that's faster than a 6800GT and it was still dog slow. GRiD runs an enhanced version of the DiRT engine, so that's even more workload. Basically it would probably run as the 6800GT supports SM3.0 etc., but not very well.

Depends on res, at 1024 x 768 with everything on low I reckon it would run fine (ish).

I was setting up a mates pc and with the onboard graphics card at 1280 x 1024 while I was waiting for his graphics card to arrive it was a slide show but a 6800gt will be much quicker than onboard.

i tried running it on a 7600GST 128mb card whilst waiting for my 3850

the 7600 is about 30-40% quicker than a 6800 and frankly it was a bit pants :( even with everything on low it was still slug pace, that was with my system in signature below.

How about on 800x600? it will look pants anyway, so what the hell.lol

I can remember been bored at work waiting and nothing to do one Saturday and running doom in a 2" x 3" window on a 640 x 480 desktop to get a playable framerate.

It killed a couple of hours but wasn't pleasant:(

i ran GRID on a 6800gs with an oc'ed opteron 146 @1280x720
all details defaulted to low, but i set em to medium and it played fine.
it was completely playable, i didnt have any stuttering.

I dont think Dirt runs completely smooth on most high end sys anyway, cos it dont run completely smootm on my sys on mid detail and i have a [email protected], 8gb of ram and a 3870 card

It runs butter smooth on an E6600 @ 3.2ghz and an 8800GT @ 1680*1050 with full detail and 4x AA enabled... so yeah it does run well on mid-range systems (and mine id mid-range now). :)

A 6800 would really struggle though I imagine at anything above 1280*1024.

You havent a x-fi card then? dirt and x-fi cards dont get along too well.

Dunno how i runs on my 4870 but at 1680x1050 8xAA all highest it was smooth as silk and butter and the GT's are going between 50 and 90 quid now so great value there!

id love to try it out on the 6800le cousins have, but unfortunatly the game GRID is like DIRT and both require a cpu with SSE2 to run. otherwise just crashes on startup.

dirt was unplayable for me on a 8800gts and e6600 but grid runs smooth as hell on max details......same engine but tweaked plenty

Yeah i noticed that. DiRT demo runs at a crappy 45-60 on ultra settings but GRID looks better and maxxed out runs at 60fps VSYNC 1080p. Indeed a much tweaked engine.
