Well it's getting to that time of year again! The new season is getting closer, and FM2009 is of course getting closer and closer and closer :)

I've seen it touted for a 31st October release with a £24.99 price tag and we can probably expect a demo a few weeks or a month before that.

Some things I'd like to see next year...

Improved media handling - I want more options than the generic 5 or 6 for every question.
Improved team talks - We've always been told "saying the same things to your team each match will mean they'll lose their impact", it's kinda hard when your options are only "Your crap", "I don't care about the result", "You were fantastic" and "You can do it!"
I'd like to see more interaction from the chairmen/owners of the clubs. Pressure to buy certain players for example.
Longer loan deals - In very certain circumstances I want to be able to loan players for 2 seasons, with a large fee up front to cover this then the option to buy at the end.

That's all I can think of at the top of my head, come on guys get posting :D

Created in Feb this year, but been periodically updated. Around 50% completely updated for 2009 logos. This contains almost every club logo and tourny logo in the game.

ye, I CANT WAIT. i really want to see more interview questions, and i think this would go against the FM Code somewhat but video plays of a manager ranting against you, i.e.press conference. that proberly wont happen but wont affect me getting it tbh, its gonna be great. Cant wait to play as the villa and Barcelona.

PS: Team talk and interview options need some more answers, and i like your request of pressure from chairmans.

I can't wait either!!

Things I'd like to see / improved:

  • When you have a player on trial, you don't get a news item if another player mades a bid for him. The number of trialists I've missed out on due to this is shocking. In my current save, I had Jermaine Beckford on trial in my reserves and didn't realise he'd left until he scored against me on the Saturday :(
  • The bug where the new manager gets 'blamed' for the past managers mistakes. E.g. board unhappy over finances when you've improved them, fans unhappy about signings made / league position before I joined the club.
  • As with the posters above, improved team talk / media interaction.
  • The ability to extend trials rather than have trialists leave only to resign them the same day.
  • Easier to sell players - if say Man U or Chelsea were to put any reserve player on the transfer they'd be snapped up instantly. Why is it so hard to sell someone like Saha or O'Shea (not that I've player as Man U but you get the point).
  • Easier to sign out of contract players. There's no way that a club like Hull be able able to attact Geovanni in the game, I reckon most players would join almost any premier league club if only to put themselves in the shop window.
  • Another one re confidence. The board should take into account the standard of opposition in cup games. They may want Exeter to reach the FA cup 3rd round but when we get drawn away to runaway Championship leaders West Brom in the 2nd round, they should adjust their objective.

Will think of more later I'm sure.

Gotta say I really agree with those two.

It's extremely hard to sell players for a decent fee at times, when you know darn right if it was the other way around and you were trying to purchase them you'd have to pay through the roof for them.

I really like the Cup Confidence part.

If I'm a lower league squad and I draw a Premiership side or a side that's running away with the Championship. The board should realise that quite simply, the club couldn't go any further because of the draw.

I'd love to see it read:

"FA Cup
The board expected you to reach the 4th round.
You reached the 3rd round, but went out to Manchester United - the board are disappointed you didn't reach round 4 but realise the teams fate was out of your hands."

Anybody got any updates on this yet? :)

It's annoying how SEGA and SI keep FM so under wraps, and just unleash loads of news with a week or two to go

Oi! I wanted to start this thread! Grr. :p

Looking forward to this. Should be a good 'un. :)

No news from me. I agree though. SI leave it too late to give out news. It'll be the end of August when they give us info and then its a matter of weeks to release. On the official SI Forums there is a thread about fake stories about FM09. I think the best way to nullify these stories is to release some info. OK not a lot but just a little bit to keep us happy.

Just a note, I aim to do what you did with the 2008 thread marc :)

So when the demo comes out I'll link it in here and update the OP. I'll put most frequent tactics and such in there too :)

Yeah just signed up to the SI forums to see if there was anything, just people posting their wish lists and rumors of whats been included.
Been like that for ages. People want possesion bug etc fixed. Won't be anything good until we know what is in the game. Then people will moan about what isn't in the game and that it must be in FM10 and then talk FM09 down before they've even tried the demo.

Beat you by about 21 days then :p
 Covert ops eh!

Top stuff. Let me know if I can help. One thing I'm thinking of doing is putting the patches and also the demo on my site so that people have a trusted source to download from. However to stop people from outside OcUK using it and thus wasting my bandwidth I'd have a login page and give anyone here who wants to use the resource a username and password so they can access the files. :) Thoughts on that?

Nice idea, liking that a lot to be honest.

If it helps at all I've got a fair few domain names hosted on our work servers, so all are pretty much unlimited bandwidth if needed :)

I'll start working out how to make a secure PHP login page that lists the downloads on my site or downloads on some your mirrors. Can I add you to MSN to sort stuff out sometime? :)
