I understand (having not been there personally) that the Netherlands is a flat country, but your region takes that to another level :p

Seriously snow, how the hell did you get such low commute times?

Encouraging use of public transport ( eg. making stretches that cut-off huge bits of the journey and making HOV lanes out of them for buses only), perfectpathfinding in NAM, and forcing use of high speed roads. And of course avoiding any congestion, any red stretch gets upgraded immediately no matter what buildings have to die for it, people in snowdogland must be able to use their cars like people and not stand in jams like animals like in the real world :p.

Also use the nam patch for 2x speed, as the standard speed it ridiculous, 50 minutes of commute for driving like 5 miles on an nearly empty highway, riiight , should be more like 3 minutes... There should be an ordinance to remove speed limits on the highways I reckon too, like in germany, I mean seriously, in any country/city I'd govern speed limits would either be non existent or at least 2x as fast as they are now :p.

Having trouble getting the NAM addon, simtropalis returns an error when i try to download it with firefox or Ie?

by cheating then obviously ;)
Snowdog has a point though. On my current map, no-one is more than 6 road widths away from a job, yet my commute time is around 35-40 minutes. Most people literally have to cross the road to get to plentiful work. They aren't complaining but it is rather daft.

Nice start.

I'll give you a few tips. First off place light commercial around your avenues 1square width by 3 squares high. This way the extra traffic created isnt placed upon street/roads and is also more realistic.

Second of all, place your houses 1 square width by 2 squares high. This allows the sims to create a house with a garden, this seems to make them happier over all.

3rd thing, try to place your industry in a zone next to your residential. Connect your power lines by dragging them right to the edge, same with your roads/avenues. This way it allows you to develop dirty industry without effecting the surrounding residential areas. Also build a waste to energy plant, set the fudning to 0%. This will allow the plant to collect and burn rubbish, but produce no energy. When you've set up your industry zone next to your residential zone with the power plant connected to your res zone, click on the dollar sign at the bottom middle. Click on your financial information and click on the green side neighbourhood deals. This allows you to sell the energy you make in the industrial zone to your residential and it also allows your waste to energy plant to pick up there rubbish too.

Hope that helped.

Hi there.

Thx for the tips i will have a go at some point. Tho the 3rd thing sounds complex and im trying to go slow with learning.

Traffic is fine its all in the green btw. Residential idea sounds good but i want it to be a little bit of a mix cos not everyone can afford a house with a garden im thinking so keeping a few for one tile is handy for that. Afterall we need our roadsweepers lookin after and our elderly. :p

WHAT? You should never ever zone industry next to residential, instead you should buffer the zones with a commercial zone instead for example or a forest, so there's no pollution in your residential zones, all you're going to do is pollute your residential zones and scare away high wealth sims from living there. Unless you mean create 2 cities and region play, but in a single city tile you should never put industry near residential:

1: Manufacturing and dirty industry pollutes the air and water a lot reducing the land value and desirability for residential.
2: It creates unnecessary truck traffic at residential zones.
