Good time to get a PS3?

Can get one at the moment for £295 with MGS4. Tempting, dunno whether to go for it or wait a bit for a DS3 to be included
£295 with a game seems a very average deal tbh. I would wait till E3 as it is only next week. I seriously doubt a price drop, but certainly a new bundle package etc will be announced as many places are running out of 40gb stock and no replenishing a supply.
If you have waited this long, seems silly not to wait an extra week. Anyone who buys a 360 or ps3 this close to E3 needs their head examining!

Any news on whether there are any wireless mics in the making or shall I just order singstar now?
Wohay that's the right attitude haha! I did the same, just couldn't wait any longer, glad i didn't now as to be quite honest prices are always going to drop.
I don't think there are any wireless mic's, i got 2 wired with my singstar bundle though.
I bought one!
But it was £250, for a 40GB with DS3, HDMI, Stardust and some other bits.
Just finished Act 2 of MGS4 and its a totally valid purchase!

Was that a shop deal or something as I was trudging round town yesterday looking at either an XBOX or a PS3, i would prefer the PS3 but can't find it cheaper than £280 or so I think.
BTW I take it you cant use a PS2 joypad on the PS3? £40 for 1 controller is a bit of a swizz.
Looking out for a GTA4/MGS4 bundle really and 2 controllers.

I am guessing that gord bought divaboy's PS3 second hand? (This would explain the downloadable content that gord got with the console).

Bruce controllers can be had for 30 quid DS3's think asia and you won't go far wrong

Is it possible to use a USB hard drive and connect it to the PS3 to play and store media?
2ndly, if yes to the above is it possible to see that drive on the network and transfer files across to it from a PC.
If I was to get the PS3 I would use it as a media centre so this would be useful (at least the 1st part).

Yes you can use a USB hard drive to play and store media and for backup of game saves etc.
You can't see it on the network like you would a PC drive, but you can still use the network. The only ways to transfer data to the PS3 are to copy it to external storage then plug it in to the PS3 or to transfer (or stream) it over your network by running a server on your PC. A media server, like TVersity, allows you to transfer stuff easy enough, but I find it much easier to run a simple web server, like EasyPHP, and download files via the PS3 web browser. Either way, of course, you have to initiate the transfer on the PS3 itself.
