Did some DIY

The BMW system is not really any better than any other manufacturers system - it isnt touch screen and the tech behind it dates from 2000. You just seem to need to pay the same for each section of it as you do for the entire Audi system. It makes no sense at all.
 
No apologies, you fail, I mean the actual ball on top is not pointing exactly the right direction.

Take note I have noticed that it is in gear though and it is not that which I mean.

The CD player unit/whole of that bit of dash is slightly off straight (designed that way) rather than the gearstick top being off line if that makes sense. Maybe?

Anyway, do you also get all the fancy high obc stuff on that thing like hourly chimes, auto start cooler thingy, timer etc?

Nice one chap, I love when you can avoid paying BMW for stuff. They had 50 quid off me today just for looking at my brakes and going "yeah they're ok" (though i did save 200 on tyres on wednesday so i'm still 'up', so to speak)

Congrats on sorting it all out yourself man!
 
Good job to do yourself... console looks a bit bland / boring / dare I say cheap though? Although not many car interiors do it for me it must be said.
 
Console looks a bit bland now but its a 6 year old car now. It certainly feels completely solid and very well built to touch which is what matters to me :)
 
This thread would have been a good thread had you given a sort of guide i.e. why it was more difficult than it appears and how you had overcome the challenge. It would then be of use to other BMW owners. Instead you fail Fox, you fail to deliver.
 
Aye its not a dig or anything. Don't know whether I have weird taste but only car (other than the super expencive) I like the look of on the inside (console wise) is civic type r (new model).

I explained why, becuase you need to wire the display into the cars ECU and fuse box. I overcame the problem by... wiring the display into the cars ECU and fuse box.

Your car should tell you when brakes need changing, in fact you could have taken it to any garage and they would be able to advise you!
