No need for mega expensive products, just some Zymol shampoo, 1x bucket Halfords glove mitt, Megs Claybar + detailer then SRP+EGP & to finish some RainX spray for the glass.

The paint is soooo smooth now, I bet I can get 10 more MPG due to less air resistance (lol jokes). I felt that the car was not as clean as it could be (even though people kept saying how clean it was but screw what people say !!)so had to order a claybar kit off the bay which came today and noow I feel it's properly clean :)

Anyway...

cant see the photos as im at work, but how much difference is there between wax and EGP? I used megs gold class wax atm and i dont like it.

Awesome job! Did you not polish it at all with something like Autoglym? I have to be honest and say I've never even seen a claybar so I'm not sure what purpose it serves.

I have a silver car and I've never got it to look like that. :(

SRP = super resin polish, by autoglym :p

EGP is the last one to use after applying SRP :) I find EGP makes little difference to the end gloss because SRP brings out the gloss, EGP just protects that SRP finish and keeps SRP on the body as long as possible (it is a gloss protector afterall :p) and Autoglym recommend using EGP after SRP so I just got into the hang of doing this every time I use SRP.

I have polished using Autoglym products hehe.

What I do is buff + circular motion on super resin polish, leave to dry for 30 mins then buff off with a cloth then do the same with extra gloss protection. You got to wash the car first before doing either of these with some shampoo and dry as normal though.

So basically my order is:

1: Wash + dry as normal
2: Claybar + detailer spray to act as a lube (use the bar in up/down motions not circular motions as I found this works best)
3: Rinse car thoroughly then dry again
4: Apply SRP and leave 30mins and buff off
5: Apply EGP and leave 30mins then buff off
6: Stand back and look at what you just did!

it's because he is cheating and using fancy camera tricks :p

Do the same to a black car and it looks like this, even after a 100 mile motorway journey leaving considerable dust and flie splatter on it ;)

It's all about the preparation, SRP is a very mild polish. You should clay it and use a proper polish before, then it will look good.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going over to my friend's house tomorrow to wash the car and I'll be trying that out!

That's if it doesn't rain in Wales again. :/

Is that supposed to look clean or something because it doesn't?

I really badly want to spend a day cleaning the car but the weather is a joke at the minute. The heavens will open as I'm half way through waxing the bloody thing, I just know it.

Looking good dude, ditched the 318 then? i love silver as its so easy to get looking fantastic (hides a multidude of sins!)

Ive been doing mine today, did half last week, in between the showers, managed to finish it off with Collinite, again in between the showers, it was if somebody was turning a tap on and off, i either got blazing sunshine or torrential rain, but its done, polished, waxed, rain x'd,even the inside and tyres are gleaming.
