recently got my n95 replaced and for some reason the battery is dying on me really quickly, less then a day when only used for texting.

i'm not sure if perhaps something has been added to this version which is taking up a lot of battery power?

when i got the phone i just did a backup to put all settings back to as was before, afaik everything changed minus the 3g was still turned on, turned that off but didn't make a difference.

anyone with any suggestions?

i have taken memory card out didn't make a difference and checked nothing is running.

You need to update to newer firmware, when I first got my N95 the battery lasted about a day if that but now its a good few days with fair use. I think its something like version 20/21 that has been released most recently so try updating through pc suite. If you can only see up to like version 15 then you may need to debrand your phone to get to the most recent updates - http://clear-nokia.blogspot.com/2007/05/nokia-n95-debranding-guide.html

Hope this helps.

ok updating now.

i do get a weird message pop up but no clue why. it says "invalid multimedia access point. check multimedia settings."

any clue what this means?

[edit]

well just updated, had to debrand so took a while longer but at the latest version now.

unfortunately i had to restore the backup i made as i needed all my texts and contacts and as soon as i did that the message above started coming up again and something said installing without me doing anything. trouble i have is i don't know what it might be. any way to find out? i have installed a new theme, couple new applications like windows media player, a few games, and various other things that sounded useful but turned out not to be so afaik i removed them.

i feel like one of the applications is doing something without me knowing which is using up my battery

if you hold down the menu button, it'll show you what, if anything, is still running
sorry forgot to mention i know of this just hoping was another way to see as this doesn't show everything, e.g. i doesn't show an application is running to tell the time etc, i was thinking if there is a bad application then it may put itself as something else so it isn't shown when i look what is running.

just to say the update seems to have fixed the phone, still at full battery shockingly so thats great.

just out of interest is there an easy way to remove the top part of the phone so i can clean out the slide as i got grit down there a whlie ago and the slide has been really bad since. i mean the whole front piece not just the case but the actual screen and buttons?
