something that will run compatible with that would be nice ;)

you only have a 1280x1024 screen? then you only really need a 4850. but with 300 notes to spend i'd probably be looking at a new 22in widescreen (these are cheap) and a 4870 to go with it. :)

i say 4870 + 2GB of RAM

because you seem to have a CF compatable MB, meaning you can add another ati card if you want multiple GPUs

well as thats more like £450...If sticking with ** screen get a 4850 and enjoy all the eye candy ;)

What's more like £450?

You can get a 22" screen for around £130 (there is the OcUK value one for £135) + £187 for the 4870. Comes to a total of £322.

why do i need to bet a new screen/monitor

this monitor is a 19" samsung syncmaster 940bf 2ms response time

its been really good for me these last 2 years + i dont like widescreen..

+ im looking to get a nvidia card not a ATI.. so could u direct me to some nvidia cards that will run with my spec thx

Definitely a 22" screen along with a 4870. Mainly for the resolution difference. Also, don't just go by marketing instinct or whatever, go ATI. This time around, their cards are much better bang for buck and performance wise phenomenal.

If you must get an Nvidia card (bear in mind you'll lose out on performance and be paying more for less). Get this, great value for an eVGA card.

Nothing wrong with your current screen it's just that at your resolution you don't need to spend £300 on a graphics card as that is just overkill.

What we're saying is £300 is better spent with a new 22" monitor that goes perfectly with a 4870XT.

Any reason for Nvidia only, apart from brand loyalty?

The Ati 4850 and 4870 are far better value for money than any of the Nvidia cards at the moment, so I can't see any reason at all not to even consider them?

the 9800GX2 performs very well, it was ahead of the 280GTX in anandtechs review. if you want to get a nvidia card go with that. But personally iw ould go with the 4870 or get the 4870x2 which will be £300 in about a months time.

Sensible option would be a 4870 + a new monitor.

Going by your request however, the answer would be a GTX 260.

i havenet had a radeon card for a long long time now i dont understand whats *** out of these 3 cards that have been recomended buy u guys 4870 - 4870XT - 4870x2

Also Will this monitor perform with all types of games etc ? does the game look any different compared to a non-widescreen monitor but
Im actually like the look of this monitor + so what one of the above models should i go for ??
