When they say soldier injured this is what they mean...

That's terrible. I remember all this used to happen back when the Falklands was on, there were a few reports of horrifically injured soldiers in the papers. Back then though the compensation was more or less non-existant.

there are people out there who are pretty shallow and will eventually want to be with someone they consider good looking

The point im trying to make though is that you could be the most good looking person in the world, and you could still get your face mashed up by a bus. Wouldnt change the person you are.

Of course. But the world isn't a fairytale utopia where everyone falls in love with their partner for who they are and with total disregard of their visage.

I wish the soldier and his new wife an eternity of hapiness but there's no discounting the possibility mentioned by Mr. Wormwood.

Generally speaking though, I always thought about how we hear about X number of soldiers dead but Y number injured and the first reaction is to think "oh,good thing they aren't dead!".

But then when you think about it more deeply, it doesnt specify the type of injury(ies) that those suffered and that some heavy injuries may make the injured feel better off being dead than alive.

I expect the marriage to fail within a year. Similair happened to a US marine; he was scarred all over, and the marriage photos were incredibly depressing to look at. They split not long after. Pretty tragic stuff.

That's an incredibly naive look at life, and you know it doesn't ring true at all. People who claim otherwise should think to themselves if they really would keep a relationship with a person who's so ruined and scarred beyond repair. If it makes you uncomfortable enough to go into denial or such, you're just kidding yourself.

That's just the harsh reality of it. Looks DO matter, like it or not.

The US marine in question:
Marriage
Divorce

the point i`m making is that you could be the nicest person in the world but with a face like Freddy Kruger theres a good chance your partner wont stick around in the long term

I hope for his sake that she does stick with him and they grow old together but i wont hold my breath

But yes it is sad what happened to the guy. She is a good woman for marrying him and his compensation should have been higher.

I was reading about some european entrepreneur who had a motor accident in South Africa and he got around 30 million euros or something for what he claimed was a 10% reduction in mental capacity :) (and also an arm and a leg )

I raise a glass to the fella and his new wife.

What bravery and determination.

Wishing them both all the best for the future.

Couldnt put it better myself:)

And to the scrotums who are saying horrid things on here, your idiots and the worse kind of human beings:mad::rolleyes:

worse than murderers, rapists , evil dictators?

or maybe telling life as it really is and not the bubble that some people seem to live in

Besides the Voldemort comment (which was a joke) I don't think anyone has said anything horrid at all in the thread?

Have you even read the thread?
