pc won't turm off

When i try to shut down my pc all it does is shut down vista, and screen loses signal. but then the fans spin up and still stay running along with water pump and dvd drive still opens and closes. I have to remove the power lead to turn it off. Then when i reconnect it is just powers up fans until i pres the power button,. then it turn on properly

any ideas?

Sounds like its going into hibernate?

i had a similar problem a while ago, turned out that it was my external hardrive that was stopping my computer from shutting down properly.

trying disconnecting any devices that's being used via usb and see if that fixes the problem.

when you go to start,you can see an arrow,put your mouse over it and choose shutdown

some people think the icon means shutdown but it puts your system into a low power state.

i know how to shut down the pc correctly
