It's not an "install" though. It's a direct copy of the disc onto the HDD. Otherwise there's no way this will work for older games. So you're comparing partial installs from a much larger disc, against full copying a smaller disc. Which is silly.

same thing it will have to read the data from disk and copy it to hdd
ps3 games are getting to 6gig installs not much less than a full 360 game

That's great news. Even though the 120GB hard drive is ridiculously expensive, at least it may serve some purpose now.

because it still has games not available on 360? :rolleyes:

, not as many but it still does. Also free online plays a part also i expect to some degree.

LittleBigPlanet, Killzone 2, UEDA game, God of War 3, Uncharted 2, Mirror's Edge and a few more I have forgotten.

There are still lots of interesting games coming out on both platforms and there are still plenty of reasons to get a PS3 in the future. However FF13 is a huge leap for Microsoft. It will be interesting how the platform will do in Japan when it is released considering that it has been dead for the most part.

ms gave us a whole lot more today

Exactly, apart from FF13 announcement and the amazing feature list of updates we haven't seen much more than we already knew or predicted.

Sony's conference will be interesting, going to be very difficult for them to steal the show but if they show the UEDA game and not keep it until TGS it could be cool.

I'm just happy MS have really stepped up a gear once again and put the pressure on, makes it much more interesting owning both consoles

This is spectacular, probably the reason there was no spring update, but better late than never seems to be the new standard in the gaming industry. (DNF i'm looking at you)

But this full install thing make me happy, will get more use out of my dying xbox now as the dvd drive is going haywire on it. Xboxlive party and 16:10 ratios are what i have also been waiting for. Tres happies.

Err...Blu-ray, other exclusives?lol some people really need to think before they post. 1 game has gone multiplatform and theres a few updates, its funny how now everything else is void lol. N I cant see MGS being on 360 anytime soon tbh.
