Hi just wondering if anybody had a run down guide of what everything means in the bios for this board. I cannot remember what bios version it is but i know its the latest version. There are so many more settings in this bios than any other I have seen before and strugglying to work out whether my changes to the bios do anything to the overclocking potential.

Cheers

Congrats on Getting yourself the Striker II Extreme, i have this board myself, and i can tell you, there are a lot more features i dont even know, best bet, is just research, read the manual, and try it out, if it blows RMA it. :)

Asus Striker II Formula 780i

Had bad luck with this board. First one worked OK without any OC, then collapsed on day three. The LCD poster displayed cpu init and it would no longer boot up. When it was working, I couldn't get it to OC at all. Trying cpu up one level (from Q9450 - my cpu) and it refused to boot.

Replacement board (identical) came a month later. This one would boot up OK (wouldn't OC though) but would only run for a few minutes, then the system froze. I'm pretty sure this was caused either by the NB or the SB overheating.

Didn't want to risk tinkering with the heatsinks so I RMA'd the board again.

I read in a few forums that the 790i version runs much cooler, so I've bitten the bullet and ordered the Asus Striker II Extreme 790i - at much extra cost and I've had to pay extra fro DDR3 RAM. When this lot comes (tomorrow I hope) I let you know how I get on.

Supplier has messed up and sent me another Striker II formula 780i, so I'm going to give that another go - if this one gives me trouble I'll upgrade to the Extreme 790i edition. I think it should be a moderately good gaming system, if I can get it too work - better if I can OC it.:D

4GB DDR2-800
2 x PNY 9800 GTX 512MB in SLI
Q9450 processor
1 x WD 150 GB Raptor HDD and 1 x WD Caviar 750GB HDD

Installed the kit last night (3rd mobo - identical), but this time everything is working well. Running like a dream, OC processor from 2.66 to 3.2 GHz, no problem at all. Tad noisy though, with 7 fans running all the time.

Slowest component in Vista is the DDR2-800 - giving a score of 5.8:D
