Tell me about the Corolla AE86

See, I was under the impression that whilst they aren't fast by any stretch on the imagination, even as stock they are great fun to drive due to light weight, a fantastically well balanced chassis and a responsive engine.

Didn't you have that with the Teg?

Sounds like a massively over-rated car. Isn't it basically the 1980's equivilent of a Toyota Auris 1.6 petrol?

BUT OMG RWD SO YOU CAN DRIFT.

Yes, and I honestly wish I had kept the SiR, or bought a standard Type-R.

Not really. It was a lightweight RWD sports derivative of the Corolla. I don't think there is really a modern equivilent.

There is, the Toyota Auris. It's replaced the Corolla.

But the AE86 isn't like the rest of the 5th generation Corollas at the time, it's pretty much an entirely different car. The 'normal' 5th gen Corollas were FWD for a start. The AE86 was just 'Corolla' in name. Infact the Trueno doesn't carry the Corolla name atall, it's called a Sprinter Trueno.

It only light cos safety and OMG NCAP wasnt such a ball ache. Less metal = cheaper car.

I guess you would have to mod an AE86 aswell so your back to where you are no releasing zero capital from the Integra?

It's still a cruddy old banger with much nostalgic scene tax lavished upon it by initial D obsessives.

Come on Drexel, its time to buy a car thats good now. No more sheds.

To be fair the SiR and the 'Teg are good cars, they just keep going wrong! :p

Im nearly up to 4 years on mine, atill yet to fix anything other than a dead original 12yr old battery and a set of trailing arm bushes.

Happy times.

Nothing out there for £5k really stands out to me as worthy of swapping the Teg for. I would take a step back from the Teg for a while then come back at it with a fresh view. Maybe save up some funds for a pro to complete?

I lust over classic JDM cars, but none would offer the Teg experience with handling etc. really. It depends what you want from the car really. It's clear you can't hide the modding bug on any car, which always means you have time where its not o nthe road and has a few teething issues. Maybe go back to a standard Teg?

Just remember the 4age is stupidly expansive to tune.

The best upgrade and easyest from the 16v is is the 20v black top or silver top.

But you could probably get a 3gste or 1uz in one if you tryed which would be mkuch better:)
