:D

you must drive so slowly that you have to fight off the urge to fall asleep at the wheel. At least with a diseasel you can hoon it and still get good mileage.

What are we looking at here? I' guessing its economy related but to my untrained eye its just a trip distance?

It's showing an estimated tank range of 570 miles.

Which would be impressive but the way the BMW system calculates fuel means he'll probably end up with about 540 miles to that tank.

The E46 has a tank size of 63 litres which means he is getting 39mpg out of it.

Which given most of his drive to work is on the Motorway is good but hardly threadworthy or anything to get super chuffed about, as you can get that out of a 6 cylinder 3 Series!

I drive smart but not necessarily slow.. Myself and other people here have discussed it in other threads on how to get good economy and it's not like the car is mega slow either (143bhp, 220nm, 0-60 between 8.3 and 8.9 depending on what site you get this figure from), just treat it like a Honda keeping the revs in the right range :)

this thread does no favours what so ever to the design of BMW instrument clocks :p

quick, someone post a pic of their chrome ring'd ones :D

Ah, thanks.

I must admit to throwing a party in honour of my car getting 39mpg over a tank :p

With a proper engine.

Oh and 8.3 seconds to 60? Errr no. Even the considerably more powerful 320Ci won't quite manage that.

It's 8.9 seconds.

My commute is part motorway and part town Fox is correct, it's almost split evenly. 22miles each way with around 10 miles of this which is below NSL in town areas.

I should have got a pic of my trip computer showing 42.9mpg for the family album. Unfortunately I'm too anal for that and worked it out to a mere 39mpg using mafimatics and riffmatics.
