We have a few round here. I don't mind them as such, provided they are decent, hard-working, not ignorant people. I cannot stand when they move in in their tens to one house, or two houses next to each other, and just treat it as if it is their own street. No talking to neighbours whatsoever, just loads of shouting, noise, smells etc. These are usually the ones who think they are exempt from British law because they are not British.

However I like the ones who actually make an effort, and actually socialise with the neighbours, and have a proper job instead of just pretending to work for their father's taxi/electric business. In that case, no problem at all.

In every case, I treat others with the same amount of respect with which they treat me. No exceptions.

I live in Edinburgh where we've had loads of Polish people over the last 5 years but the only people causing trouble are the local chavs (screaming at each other, starting on people, throwing rubbish on the street, playing music really loudly on their phones etc), just like before.

I'd swap them all for some more Polish people any day of the week.

"Anyone else had a increase of Eastern-Europeans where you live?" - Yeah and I'm one of 'em. Seriously man - how old are ya? Of course there are Poles who are misbehaving and there are decent ones too - just like within every nation. Does this kind of generalisation and swimming inna ****** sea of stereotypes makes you feel better? For a second I thought that this topic is a joke but I guess it's not... OMG I stole your job!

Oh Thanks for Salma:-)

I have, and they are terrible.

I dont want to stereotype or anything of that sort, and the guys seem to go about their business. But the kids and the Mum/girls are terrible. So far I've heard/seen-

1- A girl, a block away from her house, being beaten (till shes in hospital with broken bones) and also they tried to rape her.

2- They hang around parks and drink, and they have huge family gatherings. Once me and my mates where playing football and the ball was nearly hitting the kids, we could'nt move anywhere and asked them to move abit down so they wont get hurt, and they just moaned.

3- They take random cables/metals from our houses. They wanted to take our builders ladder, and tried to take it off his van, and then in front of our house. He shouted at them (hes a big guy) and they went off, and then came back to try again at which piont I told them to go away.

4- They shoplift corner shops, they all run in and try to take things. Also the kids are allowed to run around at stupid times (2-4am?) and just be a pain in the backside, throwing around bins, messing up walls with paint-etc.

Why are they here?

sounds like typical english chavs

Yes there has been an increase of Eastern Europeans where I live. In my experience they are all perfectly nice, and welcome as far as I am concerned.

It helps that I have a cupboard full of Polish vodka and treats that the ones who work for my mother bring back from Poland every time they visit home!
