Howdy,

Right, we all know the 330 seems to be a 'fairly' popular car with you lot :p

I'm wondering what the Mercedes equivilant will be...

Because for 8k you can pick up a well specced 330 - Can't argue with that really.

So what would be the Merc equivilant?

It needs to be:

as fast
4dr saloon
handling needs to be as good as the 330 or as close to it as possible
as many goodies and toys...

Possible for 8k?

What do OcUk think? :)
 
Well the C class is the equivalent model, and the 320 the closest match engine wise, but compared to a Bmw 330i I believe it is slower and worse handling. It might win out on toys though, depending on spec. In fact you'd need an AMG C class to surpass the abilities of the BMW and even then many would argue the handling won't be as good.
 
C280, this is only in the new shape though, which will be considerably more expensive than the popular e46 on here, it is comparable to the e90 bmw though.
 
They did a C280 saloon in the W201 shape (96-01),theres a chap down our road with one.
 
It's the C320 but there are VERY few of them around and they are almost without exception all automatic. There was no real 'Sport' spec like there is in the 330i either, so no AMG bodykit as standard etc etc.

To be honest it isn't really that comparaible - the build quality at least is noticeably below par. It was a car from Mercedes bad patch.

Finally realised the Rover is junk?
 
I've seen a few C32 AMG for under £12k... maybe consider one of them? They sound awesome.

My mate has a C320 and they are pretty quick :p
 
the avantgarde was the sports trim.. if you can find one with Designo leather/paint/wheels, etc it can look quite smart.
still wouldn't have one over a 3 tho.

the CLK could the 330ci equivalent and the c class sports coupé for the compact..
