As per title, I may buy another 360 at a later date so is my account now useable by the new owner? Cancelled the live sub which runs out on the 19th.

If you saved the password on the Xbox, Yes.
You could check on mygamercard.net to see if they are using it
 
just phone them up and make sure its cancelled and cant be used
if you used a credit card then yes they can just buy things with it and it makes no check once its been used on the system
 
Ok I've changed my Windows Live ID password should that prevent login? Looks like he's already deleted some people on my friends list :S Could somebody with a 360 test whether it works? cheers.

Changing your Windows Live ID password will not prevent him using your Xbox live account. I recently changed my password, but I could still log in to XBox Live without making any changes.

If you have access to a friend's Xbox, you could recover your account on there. That will disable it on the Xbox you've sold. You should then delete the recovered profile.
 
Yeah find a mate with an Xbox or somebody on here may do it? and recovery your profile on there Xbox then delete it, that will defiantly sort it.
