Is they to be a new Halo then? I still cannot get onto the Bungie website, have they made some sort of announcement today?

Graphics mean nothing to me so it's a point I never feel is worth considering.

I don't want another Halo game, I want a new IP from Bungie.

Same, i bought Crysis soley for the graphics, although it was a good game it did not feel great.

Im not really sure on the 60 player online play with R2 but the Single player looks epic, I think that huge beast sold me the PS3 but im gonna wait for a deal to come around. £315 for a console and 1 game seems a bit excessive.

January sales might be worth waiting for also.

I would like games based in the Halo universe, just not one revolved around a Spartan.

Which it will most likely be, I posted about a rumour a few pages back that I heard about which I thought was bull**** but now I can see it being true TBH.

The Short of it was that it would be based around ODST's and would move away from the cartoony styled enemies towards a more darker grittier game.

Yeah, I was originally planning to buy a PS3 back in December a few days after Christmas in the sales but they had no good bundles tbh, it all 'buy a PS3 with movie-tie in games'. I was going on holiday in the January so couldn't afford to spend loads on the PS3 and then more good games on top of it, and Gamestation had a few Wii's left in stock so I bought one of those, which I shouldn't really, as I was dissapointed with it after the inital 'WOW motion sensor gameplay'.

There's still no good PS3 packages available atm, most of them are like £314.99 with one game, like Haze or MGS4. Is there anywhere else on the net that sells PS3 bundles, or are most places offering crap ones atm? I mayaswell wait until the 80GB/DS3 comes out if theres no good bundles out atm.

I prefer 32 man or less multiplayer games as it just gets stupid after that.

8 player coop will be interesting to see plus you have LBP, MGS4, Resistance 1, Killzone 2 (although that looks crap unless you're a graphics whore/sony fangirl), uncharted, GT5p...

There's plenty on the horizon to make a purchase in the next few months worthwhile :)

But the halo universe still limits bungie in a number of ways. I think their team has a lot of talent but are tied down by a number of things when making a halo game.

I just don't want to see another Halo game, I'm bored with the franchise now and I never really liked it in the first place. It's a bog standard FPS with a bog standard story, yet people think of it as the be-all and end-all in video games. It's ridiculous.

I love people like you who over react about it all the time. Who on here thinks it's the be all and end all of video games? The three people who play it the most on here certainly don't (kalanium, kronologic and myself). Halo 1 and 2 really were something special though. Halo 1 was a superb game and Halo 2 kick started console online play for the masses.

You'd have to be incredibly ignorant indeed to feel that Halo 1/2 offered nothing new.

They didn't offer anything new in my opinion. I wasn't impressed at all. Yeah they were fun to play and I completed Halo 1 and 2 but after that I didn't want to go out an recommend them to anyone, I found them bland FPS games.

The problem they had after Halo 1, was that they showed things from the enemy's point of view. This ruined it for me as the convenant were a mysterious group of aliens which had X amount of homeworlds and beings. As soon as you were able to be one and see things from their perspective, I lost all respect for them and the story seemed shallow.

In the books, the marines wouldn't know much about the enemy, just stories of people who had survived and made them sound like gods. The covenant would seemingly "glass" entire planets without reason or warning. But after seeing them talk between each other and involve their story, you could see that they were clever and rational beings.

This ruined it for me :)

I just don't see how people say they offered anything new, ok Halo 2 offered good online play on consoles to the masses but other than that I don't see what people get out of them that makes them 'something special'.

Oooh finally someone who speaks sense!

I dont think I have ever seen anybody in the past 5 years that I've been into Halo claim it as the best FPS ever. All I've seen people say is that Halo 1 had a brilliant SP campaign and Fantastic LAN multi-player, which for a lot of people is true. And as you've already said Halo 2 defined online console gaming as we know it today.

So then retards read the above and interpret it as "HALO BEST FPS EVAR!!!"

I know a lot of people that think Halo is the best FPS ever, and when I try to prove them wrong they all say that I'm wrong, which is ridiculous. But I just didn't think the games were as good as people make them out to be.

any PS3 rpgs mentioned/incoming? (this year would be nice)

edit: Uk/euro releases

Valkyria Chronicles should be out in November, not sure if that's US or includes UK aswell. Not a typical rpg as such but looks pretty interesting - I saw a video review on the 1upshow of the Japanese version, includes a couple of characters (or references?) from Skies of Arcadia (that game should have a sequel!!).
