Trainspotters

Virgin Cross Country has not existed for some time now.

All Cross Country Voyagers are fitted with retention tanks for toilet facilities. The only Cross Country trains without are the odd spot-hired HST's.

they must be disabled then, because Pendolino trains certainly dump it on the track.

I can't believe Virgin trains dump it on the tracks, why the hell would the carriages with toilets in them smell so bad??

I'm not a trainspotter, but I do a lot of womanspotting. It's nice to look at all the varieties of women going about these days. :p

I don't understand the appeal of a lot of things, like this, buying expensive watches, gourmet food in little portions.
Just gotta chill out and accept people are different.

Well XC don't run any Pendolino's so thats irrelevant. And in any case, you are wrong - the Pendolinos are retention tank fitted as well - ALL new rolling stock is becuase it's part of the Construction and Use regulations.

my dads very into steam engines, he sometimes goes train spotting, but ususally gets talking to the driver and drives it :p. He knows a lot of people by being a magazine editor and also writing a few articles for the best selling railway mags (all in his spare time lol) and he has thousands of pounds of train set stuff. he's an addict, its like his 1 hobby.

(remeber this is all steam engines, not boring diesels lol)

I don't understand it either, same with people taking photos of flash cars in the street, if I want a picture of a veyron, I would just use google images, or if I wanted a picture of a 1940s steam train or whatever, I would google that too.

That's wasn't hard as there was only 22 of them! While track bashing in the 70's/80's I got 300+ 37s and 500+ 47s. :D

You must have been the only one in the 70's who wasn't utterly sick of the sight of a duff in much the same way nobody can stand sheds these days :p

A lot of pictures on Google come from those people taking pictures of them in the first place you know.

Trainspotters are a special breed of sad people and even I don't understand them. Their entire hobby is merely to collect as many stock numbers as possible. Thats it. I cannot understand why and they are everywhere.

It is NOTHING like being interested in PC's, cars, or even being interested in railways.

However what bothers me most about them is that most of the general public think there are only two types of people - people who are not interested in railways, and trainspotters. Therefore if you happen to casually mention you've got an interest in rail transport, everyone thinks you are a member of the pointless Thermos Flask and Bobble hat brigade

:rolleyes::p

Becuase they don't.

Seems silly we need to argue about **** on trains but then Acid_Hell can be a bit stubburn when he's wrong ;)

Then why do they flush on to the track then.. Cos they certainly do that..
I've had the damn things hit me..
