Need decent portabel aerial

Just got one of these : http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-137-LT&tool=3

It works fine with my house aerial, the problem being that I'm mobing house in a couple of days to a shared place and need a decent portable aerial. I got on of these 'AllForOne' brand ones (http://www.oneforall-int.com/?pag=39&prodnr=163) from a high street electronics store, but I can't find any of the channels like I could with my house aerial. I think out of about 30 scans only on one did it find a few channels. And even then there wasn't enough strength to watch anything.

Does anyone have any recommendations as I'd love to have this set up when I move in as I will be without my precious internet

You'll never get the same reception from a portable that you will from the house aerial. In my experience you need to point it in exactly the right direction, a few degrees tilt can make all the difference. I also had to buy a signal booster.

BTW the aerial i got was a Telecam TCE2001. It seems to have good reviews.

I will get a better aerial for sure. The other issue I'm having with this now is that I can't get the remote to work at all. I plug in the receiver and nothing. Very weird.

Not sure if it will help but to get my remote working i had to uninstall nero and roxio. Seems very random i know but it worked for me!

you will need a proper digital aeriel to get all the channels , one of these portable ones wont be any good unless you are in a high rise block of flats on the top floor

Disabled vista MCE option and vroom it's working. Just need an aerial and maybe I can even use it

I though the one I bought (linked above) is digital, but doesn't seem to work. I have seen some which have power to plug into boost. Can you link to these digital ones you talk of?

Another curiosity is that if I log in for the first time from the pc being off the remote works but if i close the program and open it again I have to log off then log on again to get the remote to work. Very odd but no big issue
