Mountain bike for around £300

Just found the Terrago Disk 07 model for £325 at Dales Cycles, that's the one with hydraulic brakes and the standard Terrago just has cable disks right?

Was there much improvements to the 08 model cos it'll work out around £100 more expensive....

Hoping to order tomorrow, whenever I can make up my mind.:D

Well my Spring 2007 Terrago Disc has the Giant MPH3 hydraulics. They seem as good if not better than my dad's Hayes Soles on his more expensive Felt XC bike. I think the standard Terrago has V brakes.

Here's the spec for the '08:

It looks identical to my Spring '07, but I'm not sure what the "carbon composite shock protector" is...

I've been considering the same bikes at the same budget and i'm pretty settled on the Specialized Hardrock Pro 08, just need to find the best deal on it, cant find it cheaper than £350 delivered though.

You will struggle to find it cheaper and are lucky that you've found one in stock in your size.
If you decide to go for the Specialized then buy it ASAP as stocks are running low and 2009 bikes are being rolled out at a higher cost.

Went for the Trek in the end as it was the only bike in stock from the list, in all of the bike shops in Doncaster. :o

Paid £350 for it with 2 services, and I got them to fit 2 slime inner tubes and throw in a pump, pretty happy. The Terrago sounded like a slightly better bike but i'd only have been able to get it from the net and I didn't want to risk it. The Trek is a decent bike to get started with and at any rate it's better than what I had before!

Seems like I may struggle already!

Looking for the Specialized Hardrock Pro Disc 08 in 21" fram if anyone knows where there might be one!

How tall are you? 21" seems huge. I'm 6'1" and ride an 18" hardtail. I'd go smaller for full sus too.

I'm 6'2. 21" Does seem big, but it's the recommended size for that particular frame, otherwise i'd be on a 19" frame I think. Seems it will be academic as I cant find it in stock anywhere.

Been having a long discussion with ones of the guys at work about sizing and tried out his bikes and did lots of measuring and calculating, decided to go for the 19" frame, which is handy as Evans Cycles just got stock in today (obviously meant to be!), so I went ahead and ordered. :)

Now i'll probably order another £100 worth of accessories to bling it up! Doh!
