Oh dear this is coming to live with us(cute pic warning)-pic updates 30/12

Was from a cattery in Devon ...sorry i dont know which one as it was the wife who sorted it out .. I could ask her if you need to know... But we were actually sold her as a Bengal and it was not till i seen yours when you first got them that i relaised she was a mau not a bengal

Persil

Just in case anyone wonders where my cat's names came from they are both poker related

Ace is obvious, a female poker based name for a kitty was a bit more tricky but Tilly came from a poker player I quite like ;)

Bizarre. Are you saying that the cattery didnt seem to know what cat breed it was selling?

Lest we forget that a lot of the early Bengals were bred from Egyptian Maus. Remember that Bengals, in the strictest sense of the word, are not pedigree. They are mongrols, combining Asian Leapard Cat (ALC) and other breeds of cat. Egyptain Maus were used due to their athletic prowess, to create a very active cat with exotic looks. IMO though, I feel that the Bengals have been watered down far too much and new ALC blood should be brought into Bengal blood lines, to heighten their senses and improve their athletic ability.

I think its fair to say most of us who buy Bengals do so, not only for their exotic looks, but because we want an active/athletic cat, as opposed to a fat/slow lap cat. If you want the cute/cuddly cats then there are plenty of other breeds that cater for this. If you want an active/athletic cat then right now, I can only think of 3 breeds that epitomise these traits (Bengal, Savannah and Egyptian Mau).

.

Ace certainly isn't as active or "wild" as our last bengal, Izzy, was. His markings are much better though, the breed has moved on a lot in the last few years in this respect

Ive never watched any of those poker programs - is she any good? Perhaps she is doing so well at poker, it makes financial sense for her to spend time away from acting, to concentrate on poker.

She won the Ladies world championship though at times she does seem to make some fundamental mistakes

Just weighted them both to check progress

Tilly is 5 1/4 lbs

Ace is 8lbs

weight charts show that a male should be 5-7lbs at that age

bearing in mind that Ace has a really skinny build it looks like he is going to be a bloody big un

oh and just heard the daft bugger meowwing and went to see what was wrong, he was walking round with an empty crisp bag on his head :p

After a very wary couple of days he now thinks he owns the place. Never had a cat like him so playfull and cuddly. The breeders I got him from have been great as well nice kitten pack with lots of Bengal specific advice and best of all they let me meet the ALC he originally came from now that is one beautiful cat.
