Just doing bit of recycling of the bits I have left over from my recent upgrade. Thought I might build myself a HTPC. The mobo I have lying round is the DFI NF4 SLI-D. Small problem seems to be the fan on the chipset cooler. It seems to be slipping. Makes a high pitched noise from time to time like it's trying to spin but the fins seem to stop and start. Doesn't always happen but would be quite annoying if it happened during a quiet scene of a movie.
Problem is the fan sits right below the end of the graphics card so changing it would be a problem. Do I remember people using passive heatsinks on these boards and trimming off fins??

There was an improved fan released (less noisy) & a passive heatsink cooler which was available in a SLI-format (and non sli), I bought the sli version even though I had only 1 card as it enabled me to still use PCI Express slot 1.

I can't remember the name of either device though sorry, will get back to you if i do.

Perfect!! :D Should be able to run this without a fan with good airflow.
Just a pity it's out of stock!!
Aye pity as i could do with one as well for an old second machine. and the only other chipset cooler i have is a vantec iceberg that interferes with the vid card:(

Yep. Not really a great design feature having the the cooler right under the card is it?
